This is really no different than middle school or high school bullying. It sounds like many dolphins players are either naive or have incognitos back like some sort of clique. Its sad that his extremely inappropriate behavior is occurring with grown men. Rolle tells martin to man up and that would never happen to him. I have news for you antrel, if an entire group of individuals bullied you, there wouldnt be shit you could do when you were stuck with them day in, day out...and the more bullshit we hear coming out of miami with players defendin that scumbag incognito the more pervasive the bullying appears.

That seems to be step 1 in becoming a Boras client.

the problem with MLB salaries is they are guaranteed. see jose bautista or albert pooholes. ask yankee fans about pavano.

Ellsbury plays for a whole season then he misses most of the next. how is he worth 20mill/yr when this is the blatant truth?

dude,

#1, incognito's suspension is warranted in the fact he's a PRO athlete in 2013. you cannot be on record with this kind of garbage.

#2, the most recent evidence is overwhelming that they were friends. I say a lot worse to harass my best friend. it's what MEN do.

martin is a bitch and went about this the wrong way. end of story. manti teo was more interesting than a pansy who probably has mental issues.

So looking at the payroll for next year, the Angels will pay Vernon Wells 18 million to sit on the Yankees bench.

That's your teams' future BigD, prepare. LOL

I have a HUGE cavaet for this one. When this is done among friends, I would hope that all friends are in on and are participating with the joke. When you are in on this, I have no issue with this. It is when one or more guys bother someone NOT in on the joke that I have issue with.

Say what you will of me, and you or others will, but this is just not how I roll at all, and neither do my friends.

Riiight.

The Dodgers may take on bad contracts. However, I dare say they would stay for away from the epically bad contracts, like the one for Wells.

Admin said it had to go.

:bawling:

Good old Hammer.

Looking after the SportsHoopla bottom line.

It's no bueno being the no fun police, but, I understand that someone has to do it. In fact, I guess that also means I should have said something about it as well.

Funny how I can be a old fart about some things, but not so much when it comes to avatars.

Oh you're such a newb. LOL j/k

They all seems like great contracts at first, but shortly after the press conference and the pics of the player in your teams jersey the reality sets in.

You'll learn.

This money game is one of wonderful high's and very painful lows.

Reports are that Incognito was an "honorary black man" on the team and that Incognito was considered more black that Martin.

When they used the term "black" they are referring to brothers rather than skin color.

Black teammates did not like Martin because he was Stanford educated and had educated parents.

But - the prevailing attitude in the lockerrom was that Martin was soft.

Whoever used the Code Red reference from "A Few Good Men" was right on. These orders came from the top to "toughen up" Martin.

When reached for comment, Joe Philbin merely said "You can't handle the truth!"

That ass was 100% luscious.

I still have the memory in my head, so that will have to get me by.

No wonder Hammer hasn't been around.

I knew I was pushing the envelope with that one.

oh well.

I'll miss it.

Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

This from Hunter Hillenmeyer on going to practice with Bears teammate Olin Kretz:

When former Chicago Bears linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer was playing in the NFL, he often dreaded coming to work because of the hard-nosed presence of tough-guy center Olin Kruetz.
Hillenmeyer outlined how he was treated by Kruetz when he was filling in for injured middle linebacker Brian Urlacher.
“Because he was a jerk,” Hillenmeyer told WSCR. “He was riding me because I was the third-year guy, or second-year guy, trying to fill in for a superstar. So I can relate in a sense that, you’re going to have people in your workplace that you don’t necessarily like. Olin led in a certain way. I would go to the grave acknowledging that he thought that everything he was always doing was in the best interest of the team.
"I don’t want that to come across like I’m admonishing him or saying that he was a bad leader. Because he was a great leader, but at the same time, when you have a room full of alpha males who were all the best player on their high school teams and one of the best players on their college team, to get everyone to buy in and fall into line, you need people that take leadership roles in an aggressive way like that.”
Hillenmeyer suggested that former Bears general manager Jerry Angelo and former Bears coach Lovie Smith approved of Kruetz's results as a team leader.
“If you’re [former Bears General Manager] Jerry Angelo or you’re [former Bears coach] Lovie Smith, as much as you might not approve of some of the methods, you like the results,” Hillenmeyer said. “People were going to come to OTAs and they weren’t going to have loose lips with the media, they weren’t going to do a lot of things to damage the locker room – not because they didn’t want to, but because they were scared of Olin. You need guys like that in the locker room, and coaches tend to just let it happen unless there’s something egregious going on that’s right under their nose.”

That explains and covers only when the contract is initally signed. The Yankees took on Wells' bad contract years after he signed it. So, while I agree to the first part above, the last part is apples & oranges different.

Alpha male macho bullshit.

It has zero place in my life. Period.

Along these lines is the reason I never went in the military. I would have been killed by my drill sargent on day one, when I would say something like "I don't see you dropping and giving 20, so why should I".

That, and I am only a team player in the way Barry Bonds was, in that I will give you results, but, don't expect me to fall in lock-step march with the rest of the soldiers while doing it.

Wait until that 10/300 million contract your boys want to give Kershaw starts to get heavy.
