here's something more important

ERA

red sox - 2.27

cardinals - 3.86

:suds:

Game 2 is the one that stings, more than game 3

Bullpen blew that game, not that breslow was hit hard, but it was his error

Game 1? I feel like Lance Lynn was their chance. I think Peavy was the Cards chance to explode...they should've scored 8+ in that game but their lineup failed at the bottom everytime

They hit Wainwright, but part of that was the extra pitches needed to get past the errors. I don't count it. I expect he will be better tonight.

The Sox fared better against both Anibal Sanchez and Max Scherzer the second time around in the ALCS. They rocked Sanchez early and Scherzer gave up many more baserunners than in Game 2. Many people also forget that Pedroia came within a couple of feet from rocking a 3 run HR off Scherzer in Game 6. He was on the ropes again in Game 6 before he was taken out and Vic hit the granny. For me, this bodes well when they face Wacha again and maybe Kelly.

The way I look at it is that I don't care if I only get 6 or 7 hits in a game. I just want them to be in the same inning or innings to generate runs. The only other benefit to a binch of hits/walks is to get the pitch count up.

I don't see Wainwright throwing 60+ pitches after 2 innings tonight, so they are going to have to use the longball again, as they also won't put 3 or 4 hits in row of Wainwright.

This was my criticism of the Cardinals before the WS. They have been capitalizing on getting hits with RISP. Their numbers seem unsustainable. Sometimes you need the multiple run HR, and they have lacked that.

I can see that. We had the lead, and Wacha was done.

In Game 3, if Craig is called out, it is still a tie game. Though I liked the Sox' chances as the Cards blew threw their bullpen and bench, and we still had Uehara fresh and Napoli on the bench.

Dont forget the umps That 6 ft wide and tall K zone really makes it tough on the batters:suds:

I know this seems whiny (because it probably is), but has anyone else noticed the Card pitchers getting that extra inch or two off the plate that the Sox starters are not getting?

The reason is that Molina is framing the pitches, and the umps are buying it. I wish our guys were better at it.

that's inflated because of Wainwright's Game 1 start. I would be more interested in seeing the ERA breakdown by starter and by reliever.

Get to work!

i'll defer to bigD who has been useless today :yahoo:

versus the Padres or Titans? I wouldn't put money on it, but I think they have a better shot.
Titans. Luck plays a bigger role in football

More stuff for Sox fans to feel good about, though I'm sure you already knew this.

Baseball America ranked every organization by how their prospects placed in each league top 20 list and derived a point system in order to determine the teams most likely and least likely to produce value at the major league level in 2014. BA uses the following criteria:

• One point for ranking as a league's top batting or pitching prospect.

• Four points for ranking as a league's No. 1 prospect, with value descending by two-tenths of a point thereafter, so 3.8 points for ranking No. 2 on down to 0.2 points for ranking No. 20.

• Five points for ranking in a Triple-A league; four points for Double-A; three points for high Class A; two points for low Class A; and one point for any of the six short-season leagues.

• Two points for playing pitcher, catcher or shortstop; one point for playing second base, third base or outfield; no points for playing first base.

• Players receive half-credit for their league's star rating, so that a player in a five-star league such as the Florida State receives 2.5 points; a player in a one-star league such as the California receives 0.5 points.
• Organizations do not receive double credit for having one prospect who ranks on two lists; only the player's highest score is counted toward the total.

The Yankees (16) rank fourth in the AL East with the Red Sox (1), Blue Jays (11), and Rays (15) all placing ahead of them. The Orioles (28) rank as one of the lowest teams in baseball.

That is right. I have to admit my Steelers got hot at the right time when they won in 2006.
You either have to be a team that wins 10 games against normal competition and then 4 games against good competition (playoffs) or 12 games against normal competition and then 3 games against good competition (playoffs). Eli Manning has won multiple Super Bowls and his career stats are pretty awful

Thank you for saying that about Eli. I has always been my contention that he is more lucky than good.

I hope that was your point.
