Yes, but they will not win the pennant every season. I do see the NL as being tougher, though. The Nats, Braves, Reds, Dodgers, and Cards. You can also never count out the Giants.

I am betting that Puig falls flat. I like the odds.
The NL has been strong as of late...just maybe not so much this year. I had the Nats and Tigers in the WS at the start of the year so obviously I like the Nats its way too early to speculate about legacy. All I know is that most of the favorites fall flat every year.

Did anyone pick the Cards or the Red Sox this year?

I had red sox vs braves, pretty dam close and i'll probably never get that close again.

I thought the Sox were good enough to win the division, but I didn't envision the WS until a few months in.

I always see the Cards as contenders in the NL.

nobody picked Boston, I think some picked the Cards

Obviously I see them that way but the Reds were the 'favorites' in our division. I think the AL East was the one division that didn't have a favorite this year

If the Steinbrenners are about to demonstrate once again that just spending money is no guarantee of success you won't catch me complaining.

As I've said more than once, if spending money by itself got the job done Tom Yawkey's Red Sox
wold have won multiple WSs.

That's funny I say the same thing about the Yankees all the time.

Spending money is no guarantee for success but not spending money can doom you to failure.

Not necessarily. Got to know how to spend it. The A's, Tribe & Rays are 3 of the least monied franchises & all ended up in the playoffs

The margin for error is so very slim without spending money unless you just have an excellent streak of signings and prospects. There are examples of teams that can operate with that slim margin of error but...things happen.
