Gronkowski still isn't playing this week. Is it time to call it like it is and label this guy as selfish?

Call it like you want but we really don't know what the hell is going on.
Anybody ask Bill about injuries lately?

If he doesn't play until week 14 I'm happy with it. Regular season doesn't matter.

Yeah,

Graham, zero catches for zero yards today,
Gronkowski.. zero catches for zero yards this season..

vernon davis 8 receptions, 180 yards, and 2 TD's today only...

But he isn't in the conversation?

Gronk hasn't played all year...Davis is in the discussion but if we had a healthy Gronk, checkmate.

Gronk could clearly play if he wanted to, but he chooses not too. Davis just played three games through an injury. Davis has 25 or 30 percent fewer passes thrown his way but has a higher yards per catch average, more TD's per reception, and has had the best single game performance of any of them this year so far....

He is not only in the conversation, he is currently playing better than any other TE right now.

I'm not arguing the tougher guy, don't know the specifics. I am saying that Gronkowski is the best tight end in football, when playing. I love Vernon Davis but he's not really even a tight end. He's more like a faster Shannon Sharpe. McDonald is a real tight end. He's big and strong, blocks well and can also catch and make plays. Davis is our best deep threat. He's very valuable.

I'm going to say one thing......look up the stats at the end of the year.

Jason Witten will probably have better numbers than ALL of them. He did last year. He's always putting up great numbers but is never in these discussions.

I'm not saying he's better.......just don't overlook him.

I like Witten. He is a great route runner and has historically had good hands...other than the beginning of last year. He's still top 5 in my book.

As a TE before the game (he still might be I'm not sure if ESPN updated the totals or not) he was leading the league in yards and touchdowns even if you include wide receivers. Davis is usually feast or famine but he has had a pretty decent year so far but he still isn't close.

right now i have to go with Davis and Whitten as the two best TE's in the game. Graham didn't impress me yesterday and Gronk isn't playing.

Tight end Vernon Davis had a brilliant game with eight catches for 180 yards. He tied for the third-most yards by a tight end in a game in the past 20 years. Furthermore he is playing through a hamstring injury and isn't even 100 percent.

I think Graham is a great TE, and I love witten and how reliable he is. I just think acting like Gronk is the clear cut best TE in the league is ridiculous when he is refusing to play and other TE's are playing hurt.

According to a league source, Gronkowski is healthy enough to play, but the Patriots want to get him more practice time before suiting him up in a game. For that reason, the source said, the Patriots are leaning toward keeping Gronkowski out of Sunday’s home game with the Buccaneers.

It's clearly not his call. He isn't "choosing" not to play.

Besides, Graham is just a TE on paper.

New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham may look to receive the wide receiver franchise tag as opposed to the tight end franchise tag if he is not able to sign a new contract before the start of free agency. The NFL Players Association likely would argue that Graham lines up in the slot or as an outside receiver more often than he does as a tight end and that many of the team's running plays go away from Graham to protect him from any dangerous blocks. The wide receiver tag is expected to be around $11.6 million while the tight end tag is expected to be around $6.7 million

No thats not it all. Gronkowski went and got his own doctor (Andrews) to say he shouldn't play because team doctors cleared him.

Kraft on the subject...

“As it relates to Dr. Andrews, he is not a Patriots team doctor. He’s never worked for us. He isn’t a part of our organization … We encourage players, if they want to with any medical issue, to get a second opinion. I don’t know that Rob has hired Dr. Andrews. I’ve read the reports. I’ve never talked to him; I shouldn’t say that. I met him 15 years ago and that’s the only time I’ve ever talked to him. If Rob, or Rob’s agent, or his family has hired him, I guess he is advising Rob and he’s obviously a credible doctor who has experience with pro athletes.”

So we have a guy who wanted a second opinion and a team that says he'll probably not play this week because THEY want him to get more practice.

In the end....it's the Patriots call if he suits up or not. The dude is 25yrs old and a franchise position player. Why rush it?? He has his whole career ahead of him.

Thx for proving the point Pats decide who plays not the players no matter who they get as a Dr:suds:
