The offense turns the ball over 5x and all of a sudden we're talking about how long Chip will last in the NFL??

Does he get any credit for currently having the number 1 rushing attack?
The Eagles have a killer OL & McCoy. (& a running QB) I think he would be blamed if they didn't have a top rushing attack!

Keep in mind, the Eagles were a bad team last year and just because Kelly has a new playbook, most of the same players are there and it will take time for them to adjust or be replaced. The reason Oregon was good was because they recruited players that fit the system they were running. It takes years to overhaul a team and that is likely what this team will need. Vick is not the answer at QB either, but he will do until they can replace him (or until he gets concussed again).

Who else could Chip Kelly get to run his system?

So why is Chip and not the DC getting blamed because their defense sucks?

I just answered the question. I haven't blamed anyone. The Eagles are a mediocre team. The DC should get blame. their defense does suck. if in 3 years the defense isn't better & they have a poll if the DC should be fired I would say yes.

Didn't mean to imply that you are, just seems waaaaaaaaay to early to talk about how long he'll last. Especially after 5 turnovers. The offense IS moving the ball.

next three games for eagles are @Denver, @NYG, and @tampa bay. If he drops all 3 of those to go 1-5 are you still impressed with rushing stats?

Chip doesn't have the pieces in place on either side of the ball to run his hurry up stuff and we are seeing the results. A great coach uses the pieces they have to their best. Is he doing that by putting this team into the hurry up without having a defense that can stay on the field as long as that forces things and using offensive players not best suited to running it? Sure seems like a reason for him to get a quick ax if he doesn't adapt and win.

I disagree with that.
The Eagles do need a QB but that was a need befoe Chip got there. They have a good OL & McCoy & Brown should thrive in this kinda Offense. make the defense tired & use their speedy WRs. Personnel wise you would think the offense does fit Chips plans. Again excluding the bad passing QB.
They could get a bit more accurate passer who doesn't run as well & that would help this team way more than Vicks threat to run.

As far as the defensive side. that was already needing an overhaul. That cant happen in one year.

I think one thing lost in all this is that a no-huddle type of offense isn't so bad if you still have longer sustained drives that score AND wear down the other teams defense. It's just these minute and a half ones that don't give your defense a break. Last night they actually were doing a little better at balancing things out if not for the stupid turn-overs. This gave the Chiefs field position and extra possessions. Hard to overcome that but they can make that adjustment in the no-huddle. Just have to do more than just the home-run stuff. They have it tough with their schedule but it's entirely possible that every team in the division could be dead-locked by the end of the weekend so they are tied for first. ( I know, talk about a cock-eyed optimist, glass half full comment, right).:suds:

I think it is just a matter of time before Vick gets hurt. The ramped up play is taking it's toll on both the QB and RB by wearing them down. Once Vick goes down, this offense is really going to struggle.

very good point. Vick is still getting pummeled and that is not a good sign. An injury to McCoy would be devastating, I think.

Maybe just 1. But then he'll be on vacation. But he can't coach in college again for at least 2 years cause he was caught buying players via street agents like Willie Lyles

This year? No one, that is why Vick is good enough, but I think they will be looking for a QB that does fit their system next year.

This^^^ also these are Andy Reid's guys for the most part. Also, it's harder to transition from a 4-3 to a 3-4. Our defensive players are smaller and it will take awhile to adjust. No excuses, but the Eagles did play 3 games in a 12 day calendar. These guys are gassed. My expectations for the Eagles this season is 7-9. Anything more is good for me. I knew this wouldn't turn around overnight. It pisses me off to see ESPN slobber over Philly after one game. I know the reality of what this team will do. Vick has to go. I don't care how many rushing yards he gets, he still is a headcase and still can't read defensive schemes. Hence, the turnovers. Chip will be here till when he decides he wants to go. Lurie is a very patient owner and really believes in Chip's philosophy. The players like him. It's going to take time. Draft the players for this system and things will be okay.:suds:

Marioti. Probably butchered his name, but Chip's guy will do the trick.

I give all college coaches 2 years of losing before they go back to the NCAA. That goes for Carroll and Harbaugh too. They'll stay in the NFL for as long as they make post season appearances. But if/when they miss for 2 years straight, I think they snap. Look at how bad Harbaugh took that SB loss to his own brother. I don't see him putting up with losing for long. Too easy to win in college vs. the pros and these guys are all used to being big winners.

Well thats cause he losing to his brother... and for the second straight time.

well I believe these transitions takes about 3 years. (unless you have players already set up for the system) switching to a 3-4 isn't a fast process. Much easier to switch to a 4-3 than the other way around.
I predicted the eagles to be 5-11 to 7-9.

The media & odds maker is what is making Chip seem worse. They are raising expectations. Lets face it. You wont be facing the Skins 16 times a season (had to do it :boink:to the skins ) :laugh3:

Yup. I forgot to add that but yes it is much more difficult to transition to a 3-4 coming from a 4-3 than vice versa. Dallas seems to have transitioned well going from a 3-4 and now a 4-3. Shit D Ware should be killing it.

One more thing that irks me about the critics. I have to admit that I did like the hire of Billy Davis, our d coord. I know a lot of Philly fans are already trying to run the guy out of town. The guy has literally shit to work with first of all. I like his blitzing schemes. He has them very well designed. We just don't have some of the personnel YET to make it more effective. We have not seen this since our beloved Jimmy Johnson days. Philly fans and the media have to just relax, pretty much impossible. I think Chip has the right coaches in place, but needs a nice solid draft to fill the holes where needed. That's all I have.:suds:

as I said to another poster on this subject. If three years from now the D still sucks you fire your DC. Think teams that are fire happy never really get better.
