I'd say they got a lot better later in the year, but this isn't about defending Oklahoma. Ill readily admit they got slammed by A&M, but I think it's pretty ridiculous to talk shit about Oklahoma's bowl game when Florida got their shit pushed in by a non AQ school.
-
I will settle this. It was worse for Oklahoma. Florida/UL game was considered a poor match-up. OU/A&M was a hyped game. Both teams were embarrassed, unfortunately more people watched OU/A&M. If you are goign to embarrass yourself, do it in front of less people.

Again, this isn't about which loss was worse. It's about not talking shit when your team wouldve gotten their asses kicked by the team you're talking shit about.

Texas is not a rebuild. That is where I think people are wrong. It is just amazing that Texas can possess one of the best DE tandems in the country and not stop the run. Texas is a car. Its sells for 40K assembled, but if you sold its parts separately it would fetch 80k in the open market.

I wasn't necessarily implying that it's rebuild from a talent perspective. I don't even know that it needs to be rebuilt schematically, but from a confidence and technique standpoint it's a total rebuild. Texas' defense is just terrible fundamentally.

It's a player development issue. The current position coaches are all young guys that are in over their heads. That defense could play dramatically better just THIS year if they had Chizik in there instead of Robinson.

The 1st million has just been deposited in Saban's off-shore account in the Cayman Islands.

Yeah, and A&M was a completely different team at the end of the year. By your logic Florida was better than bama.

By what logic? All I did was point out the fact that Florida did in fact beat TAMU.

I've heard this same argument from tOSU fans every time they get beat - "but we're a much better team now, we'd kill them" as if no other teams improved.

Simply put, you have no idea who would win. What we DO know is when they played, TAMU LOST. When Florida played Louisville, they LOST. Those are the facts. Everything else is pure speculation.

Lot of rumored names on that list.

I've heard:
David Shaw
Charlie Strong
Jim Mora Jr
Gary Patterson
Al Golden
Larry Fedora
Art Briles
Bill O'Brien
Kevin Sumlin

It gets longer every day. I think Texas can get ANY coach they want, assuming they are willing to pay the price for him. However, I don't think a lot of coaches will be worth paying that price.

I think I'm more concerned about who they hire as an AD than anything else. And for those curious, it will NOT be Mack Brown. They want the "best AD" in the country, or so the president has said.

Do you think Texas throws some money and Louisville's AD Tom Jurich? I know he has a great contract with plenty of perks and incentives with Louisville, which might make it tough to bring him to Texas. I think Texas would be crazy if they didn't even try to make a play for him.

Now you're just making assumptions. All last year, UF played up or down to their opponent. We needed a last minute punt block returned for a TD to beat the Ragin' Cajun's, but two weeks later we kicked the shit outta the Semenholes. You can assume we wouldn't have beaten A&M at the end of the season, but that's all it is, an assumption.

BTW, you seem fixated on pushing people's shit in.....you can come out of the closet, it's ok, you're in a safe place here.

But that sis what makes it a great job, because it is easier to make a BCS bowl with talent. You can fix technique and assignments, but you cant make kids more talented.

You aren't the only one I know calling for this. Louisville is hitting on all cylinders right now, and the Big 12 turned them down for WVU.

I think they HAVE to at least call the guy. But for some reason people around here love Swarbrick, or maybe that's just Dodd's cronies.

Not just by his, My son is a Florida fan and he announced to me that Florida was the best team in the nation this year, about a week before the Miami game. Imagine my joy when i watched them lose to Miami.

I texted him and copied and pasted his words along with my statement "Apparently Miami doesnt think so".

He came back with something about Alabama losing to Texas A&m, so i responded after that game also. Got to love the Gator faithful, they will run head long into a wall as many times as is necessary to make that wall believe in the gators.

So I have a question them and a statement. First the question.

If Texas has all those recruits and can stay in state and get FBS level talent, and are the top dog in the state, why are they not a top 5 team every year?

And the statement. I dont see the person who replaces Mack as the one who will revive the program to a top ranked position due to the stigma. ....

The answer, Mack likes Christians and they aren't elite football players.

As to the statement, $5+ million overcomes any stigma. Coaching Texas football is among the Top 10 HC's jobs in the nation. Proving that you can bring a college football program back to the 'elite', as Saban did at LSU & Bama, overcomes any perceived stigma in taking the job.

Stigma is for the fearful.

Only a couple of coaches that are even worth 5 mil per year and some of them are in the NFL. One i know of in college ranks that has no real reason to take the job, another who has a pretty cushy job at an SEC school himself and one is entrenched in buckeye hell and(in my opinion) is not really worth that kind of coin. And as i said, there is going to be a win immediately among the fan base if they make a change and there's only a few coaches i know who bring that swagger to the table, most of which you wont be able to lure away from where they are currently. Not to mention the immense pressure of having to please the fanbase immediately with little in the cupboards as far as talent the likes of which these coaches would need to implement their respective systems.
