The younger brother of Jared DeVries (DL for Iowa and the Lions)

He played for Aplington-Parkersburg High School (recently known for legendary coach being shot to death during a weight lifting workout) and the team made the finals. DeVries threw 2 passes the entire game, both being intercepted. Of course, the running game dominated the game.
