Wash has cost us many games this year, and thats not even an argument. He is a player's manager, and the players love playing for him. The downside of this is that he sticks with personal connections for too long even when they are sucking.

I mean, so you're saying if joe maddon, tito, or joe girardi were coaching this team we'd be the same?

Probably.
I'm saying that the most important aspect of managing is how your players play for you. A lot of posters were bitching about about Wash bunting so much when the team was having trouble getting runners into scoring position much less scoring them. There are times when I would scratch me head, but this current streak isn't one of them.
Whether Wash has cost us games is a matter of opinion not fact. A guy like Buckshowalter who is considered a fine manager by most, hates small ball. Check out his record in one run games for his career and his W-L record. Is there a connection? Maybe, maybe not. Nobody knows for sure just as nobody knows for sure that Washington has ever cost us a game. It's his job to put the players in a position to win and it's there job to produce. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. More often in the last three years they have.
Wash has GUIDED two teams to WS and another to a WC playoff game. I'm not sure how much more you can ask for. I do know this. I have complete faith in our front office and I couldn't do that and poor mouth THEIR choice on a nightly basis.
Hmm. Murphy just lead off with a double and just scored the tying run. See how it works?

Are you gonna post that and leave before I say my piece? Yes, murphy, the guy hitting 220 is gonna get hits every now and then. BUT he has ALWAYS thrived in non starting situations. He isn't a starter. The role he is in tonight is the role he belongs in. Comparing this to how good of a manager wash is is incredibly foolish. He also cost us hamilton's double by putting in ross. What's your point? He is a great clubhouse manager, but one of the worst in game managers. Simple as that.

Indeed, but to expect much more than he's given is a bit absurd
No its not. Derek can be better, and we all know it. He's bounced back tremendously this year, but he still has lots of a room for improvement.
