I don't know that it matters anymore, but JD went GAGA for Wash when they interviewed him...

you can google it. Really not trying to stir the pot, just thought it was interesting
anyway, I'll state the obvious....could we PLEASE get to CJ early for F's sake

You are right it probably doesn't matter any more ... but while JD said all the right things back then ... I think it was more Tom Hicks who was gaga ...

"I kind of grabbed J.D. to the side, this guy is fantastic," Hicks said.

Late to the party. Had to work last night.

Fuck it! I'll take the ass kicking Baltimore and Cleveland gave us if it means we can sweep the fucking Halos.

Bullshit, Romeo. The guy has tried every batting order under the sun and you still bitch. The fact of the matter is the players aren't producing not the manger. I could give a rat’s ass if he's fired tomorrow because it won't make anybody on the roster a better player and it won't make them catch the A's. Hell, you bitched about the way they played and the way Wash managed when they were going to World Series. You even blamed the WS series loss to Giants on the manager when they were getting beat by superior pitching.
At least Wash hangs with his players which is a hell of a lot more than you do when they get down a couple of runs. You tuck your tail and run.

Wash got schooled in both WS. The loss to the giants wasn't his fault. They were just better, but he still got schooled. The loss to the cards was.

It doesn't matter what happens you'll make excuses for him and never call a spade a spade.

Lastly, I've hung with this team since they were never sniffing a playoff berth. Just because I get frustrated and decide not to let it ruin my evening doesn't mean I'm abandoning them. I come back for more every day.

Now why don't you go eat a bag of dicks. You don't have to follow me around and respond every time I call out wash's piss poor management. You attack me but still can't really defend his stupidity. Feel free to ignore my posts.

People are certainly entitled to change their opinions. Not saying he has, but it happens.

There's still that ray of hope that I think the organization has and that he may find that last lightining in a bottle. I don't see it happening but that is what the FO is hoping to hold out for.

Or just cut him or pressure him to retire. He's not coming back, doesn't want to come back, and wouldn't be helpful even if he DID come back. Just time to move on. I should've posted the one picture that this came from showing Ian jumping over the rail, grinning like a little kid, with Berkman to the right just sitting there staring off into nothing.

Al ... you and I have been of a common perspective on most things for years. But I put more responsibility for total team performance on the field manager. So does Wash (from the ESPN piece when he was hired in Nov 06):

"I'm going to be a players' manager. My job is solely to make sure that every player on the Texas Rangers feels like they are part of everything going on here," Washington said Monday night, when he was introduced at a news conference. "As a manager, I'm no good if the players don't get it done. If the players get it done, I'm great."

We can debate as to whether Wash 'got schooled' in the 2010 and 2011 WS or not. What is clear fact though was the failure of a number of players performance and attentiveness on the field during the second half of 2012 which resulted in TEX dropping to the 1 game WC elimination and then being beat at home.

Player performance during through June 2013 had TEX leading the ALW with the best if not close to the best record in the AL. Since then offensive performance ... hitting, base running and field play have been near or at the bottom and TEX finds itself 6 games back ... about a 12 game swing in about two months.
Wash said it when he was hired: "I'm no good if the players don't get it done".

I am not saying that Wash ought to be canned mid season if TEX does not get back on the winning path equal to its potential. But there ought to be a caution to management including Wash that offensive performance is the combined responsibility of the players and management's decisions about how, where and when they are employed. If season performance does not get back where it needs to be I would not be surprised at all to see some serious roster and management changes.

Fans expect this team to win and compete effectively and not get swept in near back to back series with BAL or CLE. TEX should not be six games back of OAK (was almost seven back).

If the manager and coaches are just shrugging and believe the players are responsible for getting it straightened out … then I would remind Wash of his comment back in November 2006 when he got the job.

Wash has cost us many games this year, and thats not even an argument. He is a player's manager, and the players love playing for him. The downside of this is that he sticks with personal connections for too long even when they are sucking.

I mean, so you're saying if joe maddon, tito, or joe girardi were coaching this team we'd be the same?

Good post and I agree. But it seems that many posters believe that thing's aren't being done to try to correct it. And despite everything the team is still what 8 games over .500? I am a believer in the bottom line and right now the bottom line does not look as bad as many people believe in my opinion.

Berkman when Soto hit the walkoff. Love the enthuasiasm! :lame:

Assuming Ben Rodgers has a picture snapped exactly at the time of the walkoff and posted it ... rather than just posting a file photo of Berkman (wearing a blue satin warm up ... last night? ... Really?)

I don't think we would expect Lance who is out on the DL to be running around home plate and jumping up and down like a Little Leaguer.

Lance can easily be moved to the 60-day DL if it looks like he's not responding to treatment of his hip. That will make a roster spot available. TEX isn't going to DFA him ... because if he does recover he'd be playoff eligible if still on the DL on 1 Sep.

There's no telling how this team would be if you inserted those managers. To me Joe Maddon is on a level of his own in similar regard as to Pop down in SA but I'll also say that while TB has had low payrolls they've had some pretty darn good talent on those TB teams. Yes a lot of it is cheap talent but they just haven't been paid yet.

Someone posted a GIF of that on Twitter last night and ya it appeared he was pretty unmoved about the events of the walkoff.

I edited my post saying I should've posted that one instead, but yeah, the point is that even when a team down in the dumps gets a huge victory in this kind of fashion, the guy can't even crack a smile while the rest of the team is literally running out and jumping for joy like kids. Not the sour grapes kind of person they need in the locker room. Show just an iota of excitement, or, you know, act like you give a shit.
