Cruz, with the advice of his agent, will no doubt do what is best for his business situation. Which is probably striking a deal with MLB to do his suspension this year. This way he is free and "clear" for the FA market.

I can see the potential for a huge number of lawsuits between teams and players or teams and MLB. This is going to get ugly right at the deadline if that's what happens.

Some team that just traded three top prospects for a SP for a pennant run is going to be very upset if MLB doesn't recognize the costs of their failed oversight ... and the delay in action ... not to mention if it were to hit between the deadline and end of the season.

Maybe the union negotiates BIG fines instead of suspensions ...

That's ludicrous to me. Unless the MLB tells them they have tangible proof I hope he fights it.

Well there is tangible evidence (which is objective and not subjective) of documents with Nelly's name on them. Do they have a hot piss test for PEDs? Probably not since that would have triggered an automatic suspension. So Nelly needs to dig deep. If the documents are legit and Nelly did purchase illegal PEDs then he needs to come clean for the team's sake. If the documents are bogus then fight fight fight. But Nelly knows that answer. If the documents were false, then would not Nelly come out and say 'they are false' I want MLB to vigorously investigate who is damaging my name and brand. Even though he is innocent until proven guilty, not many innocent people say "no comment" or "let the process work." If Nelly was truly innocent he would have told everyone so up front and early. The only other possibility is that he is innocent and by talking he would rat out other friends. Possible but don't see him taking that risk with a big FA market opportunity coming up.

Call me crazy, but I wouldn't put it past ARod to have used other player's names on his own purchases. That's how little I think of his character.

Wash puts bunts on probably more than any other manager in the game, and the one time it really calls for it, he doesn't? And his response was "Murphy scorched that ball" instead of giving a reason why he didn't bunt in that situation? I don't know if he was hoping Murphy could come up with a hit to change people's mind, if he did it in hopes for Murphy to come up big personally? But in the end he didn't do what was best for the team to prove something? I don't know, just didn't make sense when looking at the entire picture

I think that is exactly it right there. Wash is so focused on on proving everyone wrong about Murphy he is putting him ahead of the team. That's completely unacceptable.

Well I for one think this investigation is dragging along because of A-Rod. Why? I think MLB has a good indication A-Rod was a ring leader with Biogenesis and recruited other players. I think they want their big fish, A-Rod, and will settle with the first time offenders for possibly smaller suspensions. Fining a player is not a bad idea but by suspending them you get them off the field and no pay during that time. So I don't see that happening. Again the only guy on earth who knows for sure if he is innocent is Nelly. Nelly knows about Nelly. Nelly has said "no comment" each time. People who are totally clean don't do that. They lash out and get angry their name is getting soiled. So the Nelly suspension IS coming but when he serves his time is unknown. He knows the Rangers won't re-sign him so I think he takes the suspension this year and some other team with less morals signs him to a two year deal like Melky got.

Whoa ... THAT would interest not just MLB but the U.S. Attorney's office too.

It is looking to me no matter how this goes that Rodriguez career is toast and Pete Rose would have a better shot at the HOF.

The MLB has themselves to blame. They looked the other way in the late 90s, because they needed to get people back to the game. Bug Selig had his chance, and he failed. I don't blame players that take PEDs. Hell I probably would in their situation. The League is now going on a witch hunt, and I find it reprehensible, because they let Clemens, Sosa, McGwire, and Bonds all skate. I dislike A-Rod a oh heck of a lot, but for the MLB to single him out is total horse shit. If the big 4 didn't face lifetime bans, then neither should A-Rod. Selig is a joke, and nothing he does is consistent.

I see the teams having a problem with any suspensions if there isn't physical evidence to back up the circumstantial. Just having a name on a list doesn't mean anything without the evidence.

If the teams aren't affected equally ... such as Gio Gonzalez getting off and WSN escaping ... I can see other teams taking legal action with MLB on top of legal action by players or by the players union.

This is a long way from being a done deal. In fact ... its getting more remote as it creeps past the deadline. MLB has had since last winter to get a plan out ... and didn't ... and that is going to make Bud look like he is on a witch hunt for one or two guys.

Singling out A-Rod is a joke. I really dislike the guy, but the should treat all players the same.

At least baker is in the lineup, and no Murphy. AJ needs to switch spots with baker.

Does Texas have a third catcher on the roster at the moment? I cannot remember if Cheerios is up or down.

As I said ... you are right Rev. But that's not what is going to happen. The thing is suspending ARod who is just rehabbing anyway is meaningless when other guys are right in the middle of pennant races.

The joke is going to be that Manny gets called up in September as an injury replacement for somebody on the 40man who was eligible (Berkman) and goes on a tear hitting .330 with 19HRs and 35RBI in the post season and wins the WS MVP as TEX DH.

At first glance I agree. Just because a name appears on a list is no slam dunk to punish a player. However, once Biogenesis folded under pressure, I am sure they provided financial records of the purchases. It may be that Cruz does not have a hot piss test for PEDs but just purchasing them is cause for punishment. I am sure they are not going to suspend players for their names just appearing on a list. I joked at the beginning of all of this that some FO could have planted names to cause the stir. Again that was a joke. I am sure once Biogenesis folded they provided financial records. That is why when Cruz is asked questions he refuses to comment. He knows. Even if Cruz was savvy enough to funnel the money through a second or third source, those sources will no doubt lead to him when the pressure is put on.
