Cheaters See The Value in Flopping

The 'flops' are gaining momentum in the NBA and it has become epidemic.

There is the all so familiar 'flop to get the charge call'.

And more recent 'vocal flop' and that is the 'yell out load' when you're in the paint on offense and get either some minor contact or an appearance of contact I guess sometimes there is really a foul here and the player is worried the refs might miss it.

Then there is the 'fall down on the jump shot' by the offensive player on the minor contact or an appearance of contact.

Of course the 'acting of pure and total injury on a hard foul type flop' that is an effort to get either a flag 1 or flag 2 call or even just a technical. Funny how these dudes always seem to tough it out and return to the game, usually to score out of their minds because they now have beat their true match-up in the game by getting their opponent tossed.

And then the most recent of flops is the 'jumping forward on a rebound' (I hate this one because it's so obvious) when someone is behind you and their is minor contact or an appearance of contact and you have not shot at the rebound, just act like you got pushed and you can get the random call no and then, what a racket.

Of course the most irritating of all is the 'fake contact flop' eg when the opposition swings the elbows and the defender flops on the fake contact. We've seen this a few times, I think it was Bosh who did this once so well. Can someone post the video of that? Those calls are the hardest to take, because there is no foul at all just the fooling of the refs involved, no 50/50 call to make a decision like horns stated just a pure acting job.

I'm sure I missed a few, if you guys want to add to my list feel free.

Makes me wonder at times what is more legit the NBA or the Pro-Wrestling whatever that's called.

It is getting worse and needs to be eliminated or the sport is in great danger of losing it's legitimacy, bottom line.

That list is so true. I like the vocal flop---when they scream during and get real pumped up after.

He doesn't need an advantage, he should be the advantage... I don't care who flops and why they flop, but if you're the best in the game you should hold yourself to a higher standard... I always said this. If the refs falls for the flop, who fault is that?

Honestly BK sometimes you really make me shake my head... Really? This is how you feel? These refs are out there to interpet the rules not guess if a player is 'acting' IMO.

These refs are supposedly the best in the business so should they not be able to notice an obvious flop?

If they have the right angle, remember they are at floor level and dudes sometimes are shielding them from seeing the action as is occurs and can only make the call from their unique perspective.

Players should not be the ones getting fined for their flops as that fine should go to whichever ref missed the flop

This is like saying that Cops should get fined for the traffic violations they miss. Absurd!

It is just another way to sell the officials on a 50/50 call.

If this were truely true you would be right horns however it is much more than about the 50/50 calls

We see it in every sport.

If you don't want flopping. Make the referees earn their money.

I see it the other way around. Make the player earn their money, if you don't want flopping start suspending players! The lack of salary for the game missed would cut that business out right away and that would do it!

And why is it that alltime greats like Shaq, Kobe, MJ, and Magic, never flopped. Yet guys like Lebron are amongst the worst floppers in the league?
The way I see it, is Lebron knows he can't win without cheating (steroids, secretely forming a dream team, and flopping).

Why does everyone say that MJ never flopped? This is not true.

One of Jordan's patented moves was the fade away jumper out of the mid post after a head and shoulder fake. He would routinely draw contact as he faded, go to the ground and use his hands to make himself slide across the floor about 12 feet like he got hammered. That was a flop too, and he did that a lot.
