Wow, what a P.R. machine Lebron has in Nike and Espn, who pushes him relentlessly for awards he clearly doesn't deserve...

...Get this, Lebron was runner up in Defensive Player of the year...LMAO...

This is despite the fact that Lebron was:


1) lit up for 40 points by Durant. Lit up by Melo, Gay, Pierce and every decent small forward out there.

2)Lebron didn't come in the top 10 in either rebounds, steals or block shots...

3)Didn't come in the top 40 in block shots..Averaging .09 a game

4)Didn't come in the top 20 in rebounds...

5)And averaged less then a foul a game, (which everyone knows if you're not fouling, you're not playing defense)...

Yet somehow Lebron was number 2 in DPOY...Based on what? Nothing but charity....

Ibaka averaged 3 blocks a game to lebron's .09, yet somehow nike/espn say Lebron is a better defender?

Howard led the league in rebounding, and avg'd 2.5 blocks per game, yet Lebron was runner up DPOY?

Duncan avg'd 10 rebs, and 2.7 blocks, yet lebron recieved way more votes...

Ok, everyone gets the point....Lebron is purely a media creation. And I think that's why Lebron is hated by so many. He earns all these honors and awards (mvp's, first team all defense, etc) which he clearly doesn't deserve.

Luckily for the rest of the league, championships aren't voted on, otherwise Lebron would have like 10 rings, oppossed to 0 legit rings which is what he has now....

...That's what's so great about Kobe, he earns his awards on the court. 5 rings to 0.

Its not all about stats. Stats don't always tell the story. The year Jordan won defensive player of the year he wasn't top rebounder or blocks.. but it showed in the game how effect he was on the court just like lebron is right now.

A center or a power forward capable of playing center can certainly rack up the rebounds and the blocks. But Lebron's point is that he guards different players at different positions. Consider this intangible. Lebron's defensive versatility should at least warrant him top 3 in defense. Last year, Lebron's defense on Kevin Durant earned him his first championship. And nobody could contain Kevin Durant until that point. Having difficult defensive assignments and performing well on them while carrying the offensive load is remarkable.

This is the same reason why Kobe is also a phenomenal defender. While he has slowed down a step or two, he too has guarded the opposing team's offensive threat.

If you diminish Lebron's defensive ability, you also diminish Kobe's defensive ability all throughout his career. The overall picture should be considered.
