If you get him and Lebron to come back and pair with Mr Irving I bet you are right :)

That is a fairy tale dream right thar...I wish!

Shit they get some talent around Irving he is capable of being great.

Saying one guy was "better" is just guess work.

Maybe you have a point. Better is a bad word. More valuable. MJ was the most valuable to the Bulls just like Shaq was for the Lakers.

Id agree with that but thats not Kobes fault. He played fucking great during the title runs even with Shaq. Shaq was more valuable because he was a freak athlete that was the size of a small airplane. Thatd make him most valuable on just about any team ever when he was in his prime. MJs Bulls included :)

I don't get the fascination with using titles as the litmus test for GOAT. Kobe and MJ are comparable because they have the same type game. MJ wins the comparison battle in most categories with the exception of shooting ability. MJ was stronger and faster and a better overall defender.

MJ v LBJ is tougher because their games are so different. Both dominate games like few others have. The difference being MJ did it longer, especially if you consider the likelihood of MJ racking up more trophies if he doesn't try the baseball thing.

Right now, I would say the closest comparison for LBJ is Olajuwon. They both could take over games in a manner not previously seen. They both made their teams better. The biggest knock against Hakeem is he played in the MJ era. Absent that, he may have had 5+ titles.

Titles are used more as a tie-breaker of sorts. Most of the superstar players test out so closely statistically speaking that it ends up being the final part of the equation.

I agree about comparing similar games. I'd say that a better comparison for Lebron would be Magic Johnson. Lebron is about the same size as Magic and has the same all around game that Magic had.

Magic could score 10 points and completely dominate a game. I think Lebron has that same ability. Whatever his teams needs at any given time, passing, scoring, rebounding, etc. they can provide it at any time.

Yes, he is another. I will say he is an enhanced Magic meaning stronger and faster, but he compares best with him. Magic could dish it and get boards with the best of em. I would give defense edge to LBJ, bc of athleticism. But they both are big enough to guard and play in post also.

Agree 100%. Offensively, as far as scoring, they're pretty equal, although I'd give a slight edge to Lebron because of his speed and athleticism. Court vision and passing go to Magic. Magic was a little better rebounder, but Lebron could be just as good with a little more work.

Defensively, Lebron gets the edge because of, as you said, athleticism and Lebron is a great "on-ball" defender and can literally guard 1-4 and even 5 in an emergency. Magic was underrated as a defender. He was a good help defender, not so good at on ball defense.

Magic was more "clutch", but I think Lebron is starting to get that part too. Don't know if he'll get to Magic's level, but he's improved in that area and is still in his prime.

Read the first and last page so my bad if this is already stated... But how good is Lebron really...? Yeah I say he's the best in the game right now... But if you look at his body of work the flaws are glaring...he's as good as his team period... He is and has always been surrounded by shooters, and when they weren't very good he didn't get very far... You can say Shaq was old and slow when he went to Cleveland, but just the year before he was playing at a high level in Phoenix... But Bronnys game is t made for a dominant post up big, so what makes teaming him up with prime Shaq any good for him... He is a drive and kick player, his jumper has improved his post game has improved but he IS a drive and kick guy... Shaq never leaves the paint which would clog it... So basically Shaq messes up his strength... He now is on the perfect team for him, Chalmers going back to his college days known for the big shot and defense, Wade can create his own shot so Bron doesn't have to get him looks, Allen Bosh Miller Battier Jones and so on...all known as spot up shooters and ALL quality... I think at least 3 have been in the 3pt contest and 2 have won (may be wrong but close)... All he has to do is pass and hit the open shot since you can't get up on him... So with this much talent on 1 team how can what he's doing be looked at as the "greatest seasons" or one of the greatest seasons ever...? No other Superstar had this stacked a team in his PRIME, so with his ability is this not to be expected...?:sadbron:

What???

No other superstar had this stacked a team in his prime......??? That sentence alone invalidated nearly your entire post. Right now.......if I had to pick between this Heat team vs Shaq/Kobe Lakers vs Jordans Bulls, I don't think a basketball fan ALIVE takes the Heat, OR says they're more talented.

Lebron is not the same type of player as Kobe and Jordan. Lebron looks to set up his team, not himself, for points and offense. If he has to score, he will. Jordan won 3 titles kicking out to open shooters.......Paxson, Kerr, Armstrong ring any bells for you?

The one thing Kobe will not/has not done is pass the ball to open shooters late in a game. I've literally seen him triple teamed, have Lamar Oden and Fisher in the corners with no one guarding them, and he still shot the ball. That's simply a STUPID play, even if he makes the shot.

There is a difference between being clutch and being selfish. Jordan took the last shot if he was not double teamed. If he was, he passed, and his teammates MADE the shot. Early in Lebrons career he did the EXACT SAME THING - and his teammates missed the shot. Then haters flooded the boards about how Lebron wasn't clutch, which is LAUGHABLY stupid.

Right now.......if I had to pick between this Heat team vs Shaq/Kobe Lakers vs Jordans Bulls, I don't think a basketball fan ALIVE takes the Heat, OR says they're more talented.

That is insane. it is good team but hardly some historic stacked team.

Lets even compare it to the #8 seed Lakers in terms of talent.

PG - Nash vs Chalmers / Most would take Nash (LAKERS)
SG - Wade vs Kobe / Most would take Kobe (LAKERS)
SF - Lebron James vs MWP / Most would take Lebron (HEAT)
PF - Gasol vs. Haslem / Most people would take Gasol (LAKERS)
C - Howard vs. Bosh / Most would take Howard (HOWARD)

For such a stacked team, if you had a general dispersal draft.

Most people, including myself, would pick 4 LAKERS + Lebron

4 of the starters on this current HEAT team could not be starters on the #8 seeded 2013 Lakers.

How is that some alltime historically stacked team???

Robert Horry, Derek Fisher, Metta World Peace and Ron Harper all beg to differ.

Robert Horry didn't get his shots from a Kobe pass......he got it from a tap out from the OPPOSING team
Fisher from an inbounds pass

Not sure what you're talking about with Ron Harper and Metta, you'll have to provide the game footage for that one.

One of Robert Horry's first big shots in the playoffs with the Lakers was a corner 3 vs. Portland. After the game, Kobe congratulated him and Horry thanked him for trusting him with the shot.

Metta hit a big 3 vs. Boston in game 7 off of a pass from Kobe. Had a pretty hilarious quote afterwards:

Ron Artest Clutch 3-Pointer - Game 7 (Lakers Vs. Celtics) NBA Finals HD - YouTube

On this next one. The whole press conference is hilarious, but if you fast forward to the 8:45 point, he talks about Kobe passing him the ball on that shot.

Montsho had tears running down his face. Tears? Let's not over do it. It was amusing, but tears?
