It's hard to say exactly what is was. Brees was already there and who knows how long Eli would have been the back-up.

I think that Daddy didn't want to have to travel so far out West to see Eli play.

My main complaint is that he hadn't even stepped foot on an NFL field as a proven player and Archie wanted to dictate the draft by telling the Chargers not to draft his son. Then thinks he's above all others before him by not putting the hat on. Total bitch punk move.

Archie was fanatical about Eli not playing for the Chargers. Believe he said something to the nature of the Chargers weren't serious about competing or was a joke or something harsh about the chargers. Don't really remember anymore either. But Archie said he would have his son sit out the whole year before he would ever play for the Chargers. But the reason Eli wouldn't play for them was because of his Dad! Remember his Dad who was a lot better QB than given credit for, had to play his whole career (basically) for the bumbling 'Aints. Think his Dad was just trying to be overly protective & not get stuck on a career crap team. But it was still a Douche move by the Mannings

not really they both have Rings now and SD doesn't and they care less...just like us they did what was best for them...imagine if business drafted from HS or Colleges...the crap ones get first pick...what would you do?
