He is for the rings. Should he be on the rest of his merits? No, and it was never close, but that doesn't matter.

I think he is still in the running to be a HOFer but he needs to do alot more in his career. Despite this tough year he is having this year he has had a hell of a career

Are there any 2 championship QB's not in the HOF? I don't think Eli is a HOF'er, but the rings may prove otherwise.

Only very few players make it. We already have Brady, Peyton, Brees, and Rodgers ahead of him. I would think you'd also have to put Roethlisberger ahead of him as he has better stats and an additional Super Bowl appearance. Guys like Romo and Rivers would easily leapfrog Eli with a Super Bowl win. Then you have all of the young guys coming up. There just isn't room for a completely average quarterback, even if he has two Super Bowl rings.

Well said. If all qbs playing today quit - then Eli is in, no doubt. But its very tough to put 6-7 qbs from 1 single era in the HOF.

symptom of the times. The rules have changed so much this era should have an asterisk, like the steroid era in baseball.

There are only 23 quarterbacks in the last 60+ years.

Is Tom Brady still a HOFer after the crappy year he's having? (Rhetorical question)

What's Eli's last name again?? Trust me folks, he's in.

He won't get in over Brady or his brother obviously, but if they can only put one more from this era then it will be him. Just watch and see if you don't believe me.

I think Jim Plunkett is the only 2x SB winner not in the HoF.

TD-INT....164-198
Yards - 25,882
QB rating - 67.5

Eli currently:
220-159
33,258
81.8

Eli only has an 81.8 career passer rating in this era where the rules are tailored for the passing game to succeed. I don't think he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. As someone else has mentioned, several of his peers are better than him.

Couldn't have said it better. He gets in because of 2 rings, but that's about it. He has 2 rings and was decent enough otherwise to get in. Although I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't or doesn't for awhile after he retires.

Does anyone know if there is a QB with 2 rings that didn't get in?

Eli is a hall of gamer a bad season is a bad season. And I could name several hall of fame quarterbacks who have had bad seasons.
