This game was bull shit. Murph fucks up and allows a run (should have been called an error). we screw around all game long on offense against a pitcher that's not on the top of his game, and yet only manage to put one across the plate. Then our closer comes in and throws 40% of his total year's walk total in one inning to fuck us over in the 9th.

Very frustrating

Bad loss tonite. Just cant have such a good pitching performance from Perez, Ogando and Adams go to waste. Yes Nathan walked the game away, but there is no reason not to be able score 4 or 5 runs tonite. Mike Young could not get the ball out of the infield tonite

Once again, a complete zero from Hamilton and Young (not counting Josh's pathetic "RBI" that he barely squibbed to 2nd). Young at least has an excuse that he is old, his bat is slower, and he just isn't as good anymore. Hamilton is an absolute train wreck. You won't win many games with your 3-hole hitter and supposed superstar being an automatic out. And that's what he is. He needs to be demoted in the lineup or benched altogether for a game or two. And great job by Kinsler getting picked off and then ejected. Really smart play.

Andrus and Beltre are doing their part. So is Gentry (minus tonight). Murphy usually has a hit or two when he plays. And even Napoli seems to be righting the ship.

It's Hamilton and Young and also somewhat Kinsler and Cruz who are keeping this team's offense at the bottom of the league and preventing them from distancing the team from the Angels.

I Guess Hamilton didn't give a shit about what Nolan said because he gave away pretty much every at bat tonight. I've gotten where I can't stand to watch him. He has this awful "I don't give a shit" body language about him that makes it hard to watch him. And maybe he does give a shit but it just doesn't look like it to me.

Who did we put there in 2010 when Hamilton was dropped to 5th?

Hamilton was never dropped to fifth. Young filled in some. Is that who you want?

Gentry
Andrus
Kinsler
Beltre
Cruz
Napoli
Hamilton
Young
Torrealba/Snyder

The Hamilton move would only be temporary until he can right the ship. Just leaving him at the 3 hole is not working. He is killing the Rangers there and has been for about 2 months now. It's no coincidence that the Rangers' runs per game doing a nose dive over the last 2 months has coincided with Hamilton slumping in the heart of the order. Kinsler is not a prototypical 3-hole hitter by any stretch, but he does have decent power and is at least a much better bet right now than Hamilton to get a hit. I know normally Wash doesn't like messing around with the lineup too much, but I'd say that at this point it couldn't hurt. The Young move down to 8th I would make permanent. He belongs nowhere near the 5-hole. That's a joke. His -1.3 WAR is by far the lowest of all DH's in baseball. If it hurts his feelings, too bad. The Rangers are wasting the efforts of Andrus and Beltre by surrounding them with automatic outs in Hamilton and Young.

Again, maybe Josh just needs a rest to clear his head instead of a demotion. But something has to be done because just leaving him at 3 and hoping he figures it out isn't working. And demoting Young is a no-brainer.

Hamilton was dropped to 5th 2 years ago right before he went lights out bananas

That still doesnt answer my question. How would you rearrange the order to drop Hamilton to fifth?

Yeah, because Ian's been so great lately to warrant the #3 spot.

Exactly. And I would be all for dropping him to 6th or 7th right now. I know that's extreme, but this is e most extreme slump/funk I've ever seen out of an MVP caliber player. Two straight months of nothing but clueless at-bats and whiffing at pitches nowhere near the zone.

I never said he's been great either. But he has been much better than Hamilton. Just about everyone on the team has.
