You are pretty chatty about yourself, especially your moral grandstanding and grumpy old man stuff. I know about you as much as you post about your life and opinions here which is fairly often. I assume you;re being honest, you strike me as a pretty honest person.

And that last part, I never said otherwise. I'm not asking you to do anything different, just highlighting your tendency to make politics personal.
Understood, a lot of people make politics personal, and it’s certainly not just conservatives. I think I call out people on both sides if they deserve it, possibly as much as anyone around here.

Still waiting on someone to come out and say it was ok to basically put a bounty on a civil servants head for what ended up being a case of literally saving a life. The facts came out and crickets. That’s just chicken shit, say you were wrong.
Most of us barely notice what athletes have to say about that stuff. Not going to go back and look but if it went down as you say, yeah he should have said something after. It's just not something I focus on. Does he do that often or just that once?

Some here lean on those things to justify their own hatred though. Genuine concern is not a factor.

I can admit I hated on Lebron previously due to the Kobe/Lebron comparisons/debates. Seeing him play a lot more, even in his twilight years has swung my stance.

I felt much the same way about Payton and Malone, but they didn't stick around long enough and/or make a big enough impact to completely change my rooting tendencies. Of course, Malone has since returned to the enemy.

That’s different though unless I misunderstood. That’s “sports hate”. A high profile player will often catch strays for that stuff. I see it all day long on Twitter with people tearing down Embiid or others. That’s a different lane from people going at the guy with the shut up and dribble shit.

I don’t expect anyone not to say what they think. Just make sure you yourself are being consistent in how you are treating ALL people before you throw stones. I personally think all athletes could be doing more to effect change since they are so revered by a lot of people. The same people that accuse some of the shut up and dribble stuff are also quick to say well he is only an athlete what do you expect from him? This is the reason a lot of athletes don’t get involved, which is their right. If you do get involved be right and treat all people the same. If you only speak up when something happens to a single group then sorry you are not going to seen as genuine to some.

You have no right to lay down rules and say he should advocate for this as well as this. He gets to decide that not you or anyone else. He grew up poor in a minority community in Akron Ohio. It makes sense what would catch his eye and what he lets go by without comment.

That’s his right, my comment was only about how it is seen when you only say anything under certain conditions. He is in a position to do a lot of good and he says he wants to. Sometimes the best thing he could say is we got work to do people. Let’s get to it. And that could be addressed to everyone.

He does plenty of good stuff though (charity), and he probably has said or tweeted platitudes like that too. I wouldn't know I don't follow it, like I said.

They better.

He rescued them from a stretch of incompetence on the management side and almost single handedly delivered a title they had no chance at without him.

He is obviously way past his prime, but still playing at a very high level.
I think you highly underestimate this franchise. It was Jeannie who resuced the Lakers from her brother. I have no doubt without LeBronz she still would have the Lakers on the upside with promise in the outlook.

To answer Junkie's question, of course we 'respect' LeBron, as an NBA Champion, Superstar and businessman. Do we respect him as a person? Now that is the real questions.

Lastly, LeBron too has been a great beneficiary of this relationship with the Lakers. A lot of upside for James as well!

You have more faith in Jeannie than I. Is she better than Jimmy? Sure. Low bar to set though.

Past his prime....sure.

But not as much as people think.

Actually more than most people think.

The stats are close.

His impact isn’t.

I think you overestimate the pieces that the franchise had and the direction they were headed.

You might want to look at his on/off stats with the Lakers. His defense is slipping with age (some due to pacing himself), but not much else IMO.

You don't think a team built around Ball, Caruso, Clarkson, Hart, KCP, Ingram, Kuzma, Bropez, Nance, JP2, Randle and Zubac and cap space (and all their draft picks) had upside moving forward? That was their roster the year before Lebron came (and the resulting AD trade).

No I don’t.

Not without signing a legit superstar in free agency.

I don’t need to look at the stats. They don’t always tell the truth.

Prime LeBron could carry mediocre teams on his back through the playoffs. He has dragged significantly weaker supporting casts to the finals.

Part of his impact was that opponents knew he was the best player on the court and they feared him.

Not the case anymore.
