NFL draft tomorrow tonight. @fightinfunbags I’ve seen a lot of projections on the 10 pick. Some have the pick being traded to the Vikings unless the Texas RB is available. Thoughts?
I’m jacked!
I really think the Eagles need a win now kind of pick. I’ve been back and forth for the last 2 months on what they should do. Here’s the ranking of my desires at 10:
1. Bijon Robinson (thinking he may be off the board now before 10. Legit risk of him going at 6,7,8,9 and that doesn’t consider teams possibly trading up with Bears at 9 if league thinks Eagles will take him). He’s an elite talent that takes their offense to another level.
2. Jalen Carter - I don’t trade up for this man because of the way he responded to the controversy in Georgia over the car accident. The risk isn’t worth multiple assets for me. That being said, he’s the top DL in the draft for me. Would be great if he drops to 10.
3. Nolan Smith - he seems like an Hassan Reddick clone. Love the possibility of these two guys being book ends and the QB doesn’t know who is dropping to flat or hook/curl and who is rushing.
4. Trade out - this is where I was for awhile. The Eagles only have 6 picks in this draft and this isn’t a good draft at the top end but there is depth in the 3rd-5th rounds I like. This may be the better option with pick 30, which is usually valuable for teams trying to get the 5 year contract for a player late in round 1. Maybe somebody wants the extra year for Hendon Hooker?
5. Paris Johnson - now we’re in the realm of flirting with down the road help. Lane Johnson really doesn’t love the grind. I think he has two more years left tops. This is a guy who played some guard at OSU before moving to his natural position at T. He could fill the gap at RG immediately and learn from Lane before eventually bumping out to RT.
6. Peter Skoronski - similar situation for the team as what Paris Johnson presents but he’s got T Rex arms which means he’s a guard forever. Solid not sexy pick. Is a guard worth the 10th pick?
7. Devon Witherspoon - for me he’s the best DB in this draft. When I thought that Bradberry or Slay or both weren’t coming back this was a no brainer for me to take best corner on the board between Witherspoon Gonzalez or Porter Jr but now this is like a Euro Stash pick for the Eagles. Dude is blocked right away because the Eagles have a solid slot corner as well in Avonte Maddox. That being said, wouldn’t hate them taking a talented player at an important high value position.
8. The Miracle - either Will Anderson or Tyree Wilson slip to 10. Would be crazy but if somehow people are QB desperate and even Hooker gets over drafted into the top 10 and 5 QBs go, math says that someone good will drop. I love pass rush and you can never get enough.

And now I’m done. The only pick I’ve seen linked to the Eagles that I would hate and rage scream about is Lukas Van Ness from Iowa. I don’t see how he’s been graded so well. He doesn’t have a great get off. His pad level is shit. His hand work is subpar. I hate everything about him. So he will undoubtedly be the pick cause I’m on record for hating it haha.

From what I understand, they are usually allowed to take film of themselves. Kind of like a "highlight reel" that shows what they're capable of but doesn't show much of the teams plays, schemes, etc.

Nothing wrong with the coach looking at it and telling them to edit parts that might give too much info. But just saying they can't have any access ain't cool.

Sounds appropriate. Maybe the kid was told he had to edit and is making a stink? Or Deion is just throwing his weight around at his new gig....hard to tell.

The Eagles are in great position in this draft; an early pick without many glaring needs. I know everyone says that Howie wouldn't take Bijan, but it seems like the perfect luxury pick.

I’m worried now that he’s not there at 10. Falcons are a real threat. Very plausible that they only like 1 or 2 of the QBs in this draft but not enough to trade up and take him. Instead, they have their sights set on another tank and QB in 2024 and they take Bijon now.

Do you think Howie's mindset has changed to take a RB at 10?

Interesting that you mention the Falcons and QB, I recently projected them to trade up to #3 for Richardson (after the Colts trade up to #2 for Stroud). But absolutely they could be in on Bijan instead.

That move makes sense for the Falcons. Ridder can hold down the fort so they can let Richardson develop for at least the first 12–13 games.

By the way, tested positive for Covid. Started feeling shitty Sunday night. Took off from school Monday. Felt worse Monday night into Tuesday. Woke up Tuesday and took one of the government tests Wifey had laying around the house (Me: Why do we need these? Her: Because it’s free you big dummy!). So it’s Wednesday and I feel 110% better. So this is me right now.

I've had Covid about 4-5 times that I know of...mild flu, bad chills. Luckily not too bad, it sounds like yours is even more mild

I have to disagree with this assessment. They don’t advertise it much but every off season coaching staffs will get together and trade ideas. The coaching profession in football is actually very collegial. What they won’t trade secrets on is audibles and checks and signals and shit like that.

Trading ideas is far different than discussing what you are actually doing.

Apparently, there are complaints coming from other kids as well. I saw another article, haven't read it yet, that had the son of a CU legend talking about the "blunt" way Deion dismissed him.

Could be a kid thinking he's entitled because of who his Daddy was...but Deion did come in talking about how he would be getting rid of guys.

Well, to be fair if a program is hiring a new coach, there could very be issues that need to be cleared out to get back on track.

Yeah, there will always be turnover when you bring in a new coach. The transfer portal just makes it easier.

But there's also a way to do these things without creating a "what the hell is going on over there?" narrative.

It makes them look chaotic and like they don't know what they're doing.

Not saying that's the case, just stating how it looks. These aren't exactly..."thank you for the opportunity and support..." tweets. lol

Giving up a 2nd and 3rd for Hopkins would be dumb. No way they would give up that much especially with that contract

Said the same when the Chiefs were brought up as a possible stop for Hopkins...

He ain't worth all that, especially at his age...
