I seldomly side with the retarded refs but Its the whole football move thingy. He only got 2 feet down. In that case you have to make a football move. It was definitely close to being tucked but they may have gotten it right for a change.
That’s not a catch according to the rule. You can debate whether the rule should be changed but as it’s currently officiated that’s not a catch. He needs to take a third step after he gets possession. He doesn’t make a football move. You’re reacting to how slow it looks on replay. The Super Bowl is a big day for a bunch of casuals. I highly recommend investing in NFL football going forward and not just the Super Bowl. It’s entertaining like this on a weekly basis.

I didn't realize taking a step was the official rule. He clearly turns to run with the ball - which is what I thought was his "move".

And sadly, I do watch way to little football during the year. I only got in about five Giants games - and never the entire games....

I get it's a catch 22 for the league. You wonder how you can make that call there but at same time dbs can't get the green light to mug receivers late in game
Yeah a lot more fighting goes on in a game then that but I think they called it for a number of reasons. It was in plain daylight, those two guys were like the only two guys on the side of the field and he grabbed him making it TOO obvious. Since it's holding, it doesn't matter if the ball is uncatchable bc it's holding. If it was PI then we can talk about catchable or uncatchable. I guess in theory it should be a play on but he did have the DB beat pretty good so anytime the defender is behind him basically that is a call they will make. Just horrible timing being a 3rd down and the game on the line for Philly.

Worst calls were the Steelers Seahawks Superbowl.

Both the fumble reverse and the holding call were called the correct call by the person they affected the most. Bolden said that he went to the sideline and told his coach it was going to be overturned.
Easy there obx... you're going to trigger some folks

I thought that was the correct call, but I will say this: Miles Sanders came up very small in that Super Bowl. He was increasingly outplayed by Kenny Gainwell as the season went on, and I think there is little chance he returns to Philly. He is a free agent.

Minor penalties until there's 2 minutes to go. Should have been 4th and 8. Instead the fix was in and the Chiefs were allowed to run out the clock.

NFL is getting worse than the NBA

Am I the only one that thinks that was actually the right call?
I thought the Goedert catch should have been reversed.

I also thought the holding on the last drive was borderline. Not as obvious as a lot are saying. Letter of the law, sure, but don't show a still frame as you can do that on many, many plays and find a grab or push
There was enough evidence to reverse Goederts catch. He was bobbling it the entire way out of bounds. Horrible officiating on the field and on replay. The hold at the end I have seen worse call. The timing was bad,but it still looked like a penalty.

The Eagle defense had no answers for Mahomes in 2nd half. The Chiefs were just a better team.

All the happenings within the game became irrelevant in the last 2 minutes. Officials need to be objective and that holding call was not. In order for that referee to make that call he had to weigh 2 important reasons, 1 did the contact impedes the receiver's performance and if it did was the ball actually a catchable ball?. So he has to say to himself, how much does it affect the outcome of the play?
I think he should have picked up the flag because that ball was not catchable. Replay( and as 1 poster noted showed a loss of maybe 3 steps? ) showed the ball was over 10 yards away and only 1 yard from the OB.
The official clearly changed the course of the game. KC would have gotten a field goal, no doubt but there was 1:48? on the clock and 2-time outs for Philly. The suspense and outcome were still in question, making it the game we expected and most probably one of the greatest but that call took all that away.
If anyone reviews that play and objectively sees its significance, they cannot deny the game was controlled at that point and that the chance for greatness still survived

Worst call in S.B. history?

No.

James Bradberry- Eagles CB says holding penalty on winning drive was correct call.

His own words - "I tugged his jersey"

Sanders clearly caught the ball with both feet on the ground, turned to run, then got popped. Ball comes out, Bolton picks it up and runs it in for his second defensive TD of the game... I see people complaining about a stupid holding call, but this reversal takes the cake.

Bad call.

Not as bad as Malcom butler or missing the Sanu face mask against the falcons

No it wasn't. Here's why.

Eagles CB James Bradberry- "I tugged his jersey"

He said holding penalty on winning drive was correct call.

The refs usually suck but it's hard to blame the refs when the player admits he made a mistake lol

Eagles CB James Bradberry on crucial third-down penalty: 'It was holding'
Not only this - how about we talk about KC going on a 24-11 run to put the game away. Philadelphia with a costly turnover for a TD. How about forcing Mahomes to miss just 1 pass the entire 2nd half, and it was a throw-away, IIRC.

I get the flag was called at a critical juncture - but the reason that play looms large is because the Eagles allowed it to. They had multiple chances to drive, score points, stop KC - and they simply couldn't get it done.

The flag was a correct call - and it stinks it happened at that time, but the whole "let them play" thing is stupid. They did let them play. The defender committed a penalty, and the ref did his job, which is to call infractions seen. The play did decide that outcome. Don't like the flag, don't commit the foul. Don't like the impact that call has on the game, don't go into the 2nd half and force KC to punt the ball exactly zero times, while allowing a 99% completion rate. At what point do we look at the defense and wonder what exactly happened to that vaunted rush against a clearly compromised QB?

Defensive holding doesn’t carry the prerequisite that it has to be a catchable ball. It’s a call. That was defensive holding. My only issue is that the call didn’t fit the standard for what was allowable by that crew through the first 58 1/2 minutes of the game. That being said, the Chiefs won because they outplayed and out coached the Eagles.

I agree with all of this

If they didn’t miss the one in the first half that call might be irrelevant as the chiefs just run the ball. Clear out the clock and kick a fg anyway, but they could’ve been up 7 if they scored on that drive in the first half that stopped due to the missed call
