Mike McCarthy should be a candidate .the Cowboys were predicted to miss the playoffs after Dak got hurt week one and missed 5 games. This is my unbiased opinion. I am not even that big of a fan of MM, but give him credit for going 12-5. This is not even taking into account all the injuries they had on the OL and secondary.

cant see Daboll getting it even though he did an excellent job. Other coaches similar to him him did better.
Giants were gonna be maybe little under .500 team before the season started. Mid pack.
Jags & Detroit weren't supposed to do anything (dumpster fires) before the season started. That kinda takes the Giants HC out of the running in my opinion.
Although he should be on the list of consideration.
Then you have the typical vote getters. The teams with awesome records. Which throws the Eagles, Niners, bills, Chiefs, Bengals & Vikes into the conversation.

Dont know when the voting happens. If it is before the playoffs I would predict Siriani, Pederson, or Campbell (with a media push)
If after playoffs, it comes down to who beat who in the playoffs. My prediction whoever makes the Superbowl between the Eagles & Niners. All the AFC coaches were expected to get there.
Daboll has done a hell of a job. He has to be a candidate . He took over a team that looked like trash last season and got them to the divisional round.

Well with Kliff exploring the tropical delights in Thailand maybe he is contemplating a offensive makeover. I hear Thailand will expand your horizons. :)

actually when I went back & saw how bad I thought the Giants were gonna be, before the season. I am tending to agree with the Daboll crowd.
Pederson has a high prospect, & Daboll had Danny Dimes. I would applaud if Daboll won it.

are the votes for this already in?
isn't this supposed to be regular season accomplishments?
I believe the votes have already been submitted. It’s tough though because I believe there are at least two outlets that name a coach of the year award.

I'm guessing Campbell or Pederson... maybe Daboll (because you know, NY). My pick would be Campbell - what a complete turn around. I friggin love the way he had that team playing by the end of the year. No dis on Pederson at all, I just never expected the Lions to compete the way they did, while I could have seen it from the Jags based on Pederson's pedigree.

Siriani has done a great job, but because they were a PO team last year and improved as many expected, he probably won't get the nod. The Shanahans, Reids, Taylors always get overlooked for this award, so while they may get an honorable mention, I can't see them getting it.

Siriani can’t win. This award is usually given to a middling team who everyone thought would be garbage and they over value them because they weren’t functionally retarded. This award rarely goes to the coach of a legit Super Bowl contender. The real coach of the year is awarded on February 12th. The goal is winning a Super Bowl. That’s the real coach of the year award. Past winners have been failures like Ray Rhodes Matt Nagy and Dick Jauron because of the way they give out this award.

SI's took voluntary votes from random league execs and coaches. No idea who responded, but it adds up to 37 votes so can't be equal representation from every team/conference/division. Not sure ifbthat necessarily makes it biased though.

Winner: Brian Daboll, Giants, 18.5 votes

Runner-up: Kyle Shanahan, 49ers, 7

Others receiving votes: Kevin O’Connell, Vikings (5), Nick Sirianni, Eagles (2), Doug Pederson, Jaguars (1.5), Dan Campbell, Lions (1), Sean McDermott, Bills (1), Mike Tomlin, Steelers (1)

This award goes to the Little Engine That Could Guy who turns chicken shit into “They Aren’t Half Bad”. The real coach of the year award gets handed out on February 12th.

Agreed... Which is why I thought Pete Carroll did one helk of a job this year and should've gotten a bit more recognition than he did... He not only changed the defense from a 4-3 to a 3-4 for the first time in his career but he also moved on from Russell Wilson AND Bobby Wagner while still making the playoffs w/ Geno Smith...

Most NFL experts/fans didn't expect Seattle to win more than 4 or 5 games...

Pederson or Daboll are the clear options at this point.

Saleh is a Wilson away from consideration. Has a qb wasted a defense that good before?
Coincidentally the Broncos also had a Wilson wasting a really good defense.
