I think you need to get it through your skull that market used to mean a lot- and the impact of market keeps on getting less and less as the NBA develops as a league.
I agree, the market isn't as big of a deal in the NBA. Other sports? A different story. If you are a competing team with likeable players and coaches, players will want to go play for your team. Milwaukee is a good example

bothers me? It's comedy gold you'd make that comment.
See what I mean? You people are weird. Isn’t Dave Chappelle from your state and you’re calling my post “comedy gold”? This is what an inferiority complex looks like.

And in the NBA the team that drafts a player or acquires a player has a huge advantage in “free agency”. Often they can offer more money than any suitor.

Front office has their head in the sky for a BIG trade, someone like Beal or LaVine. Damn it we need a proven president of basketball operations hired. Can't have Pelinka and the Rambii steering the ship....
100%

Question: Would you take Lonzo back if it meant you could get Zach?

Not sure I agree with that. IF market matters I think it matters the most in the NBA than MLB or NFL. Not really close. Players will go where the money is in MLB and NFL it seems. Hell, even those 1-31 Browns teams were able to attract decent FAs. The middling Tribe teams could have if they were willing to pay. If there were other options and we were not a contender I doubt the Cavs would attract quality FAs...same with the Bucks and others.

Really? I remember a lot of shit talking before the Cavs injuries starting settling in. They were 19-12 as of 12/21 last year, 22-11 this year.
I don’t think you can appreciate what a huge loss a guy like Rubio is. It’s why they played like .333 ball to close the season.

No idea where Chappelle is from, but a 76er bball fan ripping a Cavs fan is, in fact, comedy gold. Would you prefer comic relief? Free comedy?

In fairness, they lost all their point guards at various points of the season.

It was a goddamn epidemic.

Well, just being real, if I were an Orlando Magic fan I’d still rip God’s bowel movement, Cleveland.

That is true but at that time we already had lost our second best playmaker for the season. Now IF that happens again then I can agree we'd be in the same spot. Like any team would be if they lost a top playmaker.

And what shit talking was there? Doubt any Cavs' fan thought we were going far last season, let alone winning a round at best.

….at least you have both won chips.

As shitacular as the Lakers are, they have drapes galore hanging from the rafters.

Dunno if I will live long enough to see my team get even 1.

It was a goddamn excuse for a collapse. Every team in sports deals with injuries. It’s part of the game. Nobody feels bad for my team when they’re up 2-1 on the Hawks and Danny Green goes down and the series changes. Nobody feels bad for my team when Joel Embiid takes a dirty elbow from Push Off P and he is for shit in the Miami series. It’s just excuses. Injuries are a part of sports.

Actually, while I do appreciate Rubio, we had about the same record without as we did with....until we lost Allen for a very long stretch (and Mobley for a good amount, as well)

This year, instead of losing Rubio we hopefully get him back. Early January is what we are being told.

Your takes on the Lakers remind me of that scene in Dead Poet’s Society when Neil blows his brains out and his mother comes in to the study and keeps saying “He’s alright! He’s alright! He’s alright!” And it’s like lady…his brains are on the fucking floor. He’s not alright. He’s not going to be alright. The top end of the Lakers “dream” for this season is a play in game win and the right to get swept out of the first round.

Before AD's injury (and we still don't know what the hell it is), Lakers had just lost extremely close games to the Sixers, Pacers and Celtics and were 11-6 in their last 17, weathering a few games missed by AD and Lebron. That was definite reason for optimism. Trades are supposedly on the horizon for improvements. Sure, AD's injury could potentially derail EVERYTHING, but we don't know the severity yet.

Am I supposed to stop pushing for the Lakers to win games? The first place team (that the Lakers have beaten twice already this year) is only 19-11. The whole damn conference is essentially playing .500 ball the past 10 games.

They’ll get one. If Cleveland can overcome God hating them and winning a miracle championship down 3-1 everyone will get their day.

Getting hit on a push off in a series - but still playing - is the same as going down for all but 11 games? For half a season?

Once again that is also comedy gold.
