Nah just injuries and big time regression from the role players.

Bench went from 1st last year to 29th last year.

Getting a 4 and bringing Caleb off the bench will help tremendously

DeMar isn't a perfect fit but the only issue for the Laker here is matching the salary. You give up a 1st for DeMar for those guys without a doubt imo. Russ has been a better fit on the bench.

I mean obviously the better deal is giving up Russ for Vuc and DeMar even if you give up both picks. Vuc can spread the floor and AD stays at the 4. DeMar does not spread the floor but a shot maker and another guy that can close out unlike Russ.

He's not a perfect fit, but you're making it worse by having both him and Westbrook together. Even if you stagger their minutes, it messes things up. Plus, with AD's resurgence stemming mostly from accepting playing as center at dominating inside, getting Vuc could complicate things further. Vuc can't really play the 4 alongside Davis. A better deal for the Lakers if Chicago decides to blow it up (they really should, whether they deal with the Lakers or not) would be

Westbrook and the two 1sts to Chicago
Derozan, Caruso, and salary filler (need about 4 mil to make it work) to LA

Derozan is a bit better fit than Westbrook. And by getting back Caruso, he can be a better perimeter defender and a pass first guard (both of which the Lakers need). This way the Lakers boost their roster with more guard/wing help and depth while also allowing Davis to still keep playing center. The Bulls get those picks and Westbrook's expiring so its a win for them if they blow it up

But seriously though, if things drag on like this another month and they're still floundering around the play in, they should probably consider it. I just looked it up and I think the Heat's pick this year is lottery protected.

Wouldn't make sense TBH. We saw what Jimmy does in the playoffs in 2 of his 3 years. Bam playing the best ball of his career. A few moves to improve the bench and they will be fine. As bad as they been, only 2 losses behind 4th right now

Would you do this if your the Bulls? Obviously it would have to get bad and possibly even DeMar asking out of Chicago.

LA gets: DeMar
Chicago gets: Lonnie Walker, Pat Bev, '27 1st, '29 1st

All expiring and Vucevic is expiring so they will have cap space next year. Two 1st's included. I think Chicago can do better.

Hell no. DeRozan can't shoot the 3 or defend. Lakers get older, lose their cap space for next season and their 2 remaining tradeable draft picks and gain very little IMO.

I didn’t think about Caruso. I was just thinking about an expiring contract that doesn’t have as much value. Caruso is a better fit but again, riddled with injuries of late. Just another undependable player. His fit in Chicago hasn’t been ideal

Agree about the fit but the only viable option better than DeMar in FA is Kyrie and I wouldn’t touch him with a 10 ft pole

Not a lot to choose from. The Lakers staying put is basically like throwing the season away. You would think a lot of teams do not want to help the Lakers AND/OR the LA FO is unwilling to give up those picks for just anything

Now Caruso I would take back in a heartbeat. Can't trade Bev (and a 2nd if needed) straight up though, Bulls need to give back more salary (about $1.7M).

He hates the heat so no surprise there. He hasn't said a good thing about Miami in at least 13 years. Blowing up is dumb. They were a shot away from the final and made the finals in 2020. They need to address the bench issue.

Also played the 5th strongest schedule so far with a shit load of injuries. Minor trades here and there are needed but blowing up? Lol nah the big 3 is going nowhere

Probably. It's definitely starting to slip now...
Late to the party...but will say every time it looked like they'd pull away the Lakers wouldn't allow it. Until we pulled away from 92-92. And by we I mean Mitchell.
