That's another reason why I think the Lakers need to split up whatever cap they end up having among 2-3 players that fill roles. There aren't any guys on that list that I'd give a max to and Kyrie is the only one that I'd give $30 or more for.

But there are several I'd give $15-20 for.

Not having a full max may save the Lakers from themselves. lol
I tend to agree. I think that is one reason (of many) that the Cavs decided to pull the trigger on the Mitchell deal- even if they wanted to wait I dont feel great about giving any of those guys a big time long term contract. Middleton is a fine player but I would rather not pay him the max. Harden- hell no. Like you said- Irving is at least young and has the ceiling you like out of a guy you commit that much to - but the crazy aspect does not let you sleep well about it- though like you said- gun to my head he is the one guy I would pick to max-out if I had to pick one.

Trent Jr. is interesting going forward. Turner interesting. Bogdonovic.

Depending how the Cavs do- what develops, what they do with Love...etc....I would not mind looking at Barnes, Kuzma, Trent Jr.

analytically it was prob. the right play- but you are correct that you have to take into account the other factors at play.

the Lakers, and most especially RW- being a terrible shooter def. changes the calculus.

Like Mecca said- I do feel bad for him in a way because he is playing hard and they all seem to be putting in real effort on defense- but its just such a weird roster construction. I guarantee you one of the reasons Walker is on the team is because he would accept a 1 yr. deal. They are doing everything in their power to maintain cap space flexibility for next year.

Its why I dont know if they can get a deal done- if they will be willing to take on money that is on the books after this season.

Yeah, if memory serves, pretty much every trade scenario involves at least 1 guy whose contract doesn't expire this year.

I think that actually has more to do with trades not happening than not wanting to part with 2 future firsts.

Mitchell is cold thus far and for whatever reason the Magic have kind of owned the Cavs their last few meetings........not gonna be an easy game that most people though it would be.

I think MObley missing most of the preseason is holding him back a bit too. He looks a little out of it thus far this season offensively.

right.....its a very accurate point.

I think Hield and Conley would both blow up cap room- while they would be good additions it appears the Lakers value the flexibility more than the immediate upgrade.

Why do the lakers keep playing Russ is the better question? He shouldn’t even be on the court, especially at the end of the game imo

Because of who he was, you have to give him the respect of a few games to see if they can figure something out. If things keep going as they are and they get 20 games in, I think the Lakers will either finally pull the trigger on a trade or John Wall him.

its a shame LeBron is all about the $.

He EASILY could have taken 25M instead of every single dollar and given the Lakers so much more flexibility.

But LeBron- at the end of the day- only cares about LeBron. He is not going to give up a penny. Which- hey - it is certainly his right- but you saw guys like Dirk and Ducan- even Harden this year- and many more- when they were late in their careers try and prioritize team and winning a championship over every last dollar.

What is an extra 20M a year going to do for LeBron at this point? How huge would it be if instead of around $35-40 in cap space they had almost 60? That is 3 very solid players.

Add Trent Jr., Kuzma, Bodgnovic to the team and then get a point guard somehow via a trade with those picks....

Didn't he do that earlier in his career and then finally said he wasn't doing that anymore?

Obviously, it would be great if he did as you suggest. Hell, he could play for free and it wouldn't have any impact on his and his families situation.

But as they say, I ain't countin' another mans money. lol

I don’t think anyone thinks it’s the actual money, it’s the knowing that he is worth what he is worth. Can’t blame him really.

Westbrook was going 2-1 for which is probably the right play- its why he did not "run down the clock". It is certainly at the very least debatable.

It is debatable if he takes a high quality shot.

He probably hits that shot less than 25%.

So not really debatable.

Finally got a chance to watch the Sixers and they have some real issues. Tobias Harris doesn’t fit and PJ Tucker is straight cooked. Siakam is just eating him up tonight. Not even sure Doc getting fired is gonna right this ship. They need to trade Harris for a shooter. He can’t play the 3. Tucker needs to come off the bench. Harris needs to start at the 4 and they need to find somebody else to play the 3. I don’t see this team being anything better than a 6 seed. @dtgold88 I’m owning my bull shit. Cavs will finish higher than the Sixers in the East this year.

Is Melton not an answer of any kind?

I might fuck around with Harris at the 4 and playing 3 guards with Harden Maxey and Melton and see what that looks like but I think big guards and wings could make that attack a problem defensively come playoff time. The answer was developing Mattise Thybulle and that didn’t happen. Not sure whose fault- Thybulle or the organization. Not looking to play the blame game. Just saying he should be the starter there and he’s not that guy.

Not too late to tank for Vic!

Just give Embiid 60 nights off and you got it!
