Wait you're serious? You know that the Nationals asking price is sky high right? I would think any offer from the White Sox would have to include Eloy or Robert. I don't see the Sox (or any team frankly) having the capital to meet the National's current demands. At a minimum we'd have to be willing to eat Corbin's contract.
I don't know how serious an idea it is, but two things:

!) If no one meets their asking price - they will have to bring down their asking price,
2) LH power bat playing RF is the best acquisition the Sox can make to actually complete this team.

If the Nationals want Eloy instead of Vaughn - I'd consider that considering how little Eloy as actually played and contributed. I'm not sure why you think Corbin is handcuffed to Soto.

IMO if no one meets their asking price they will just keep him and try again in the off-season. Or maybe make another run at extending him when their ownership issues get resolved. Honestly it makes no sense to trade him at all, they will never get fair value.

Corbin has one of the worst contracts in MLB - the only way they’re getting rid of it is by including him in a Soto trade package. If they are dumping Soto they are going to want to clear as much salary as they can.

Lopez on the IL (back dated to July 26). Who is actually left in this bullpen?

I don't know how many times I have to mention it, but way too many soft tissue injuries.

I'm beginning to wonder about Katz - it is way too frequent the Sox starters start the game off with bad 1st innings - isn't that just poor preparation?

I hope they did a brain scan on Luis Robert - instead of just prescribing rest for lightheadedness.

Soto going to Padres. More details to come on the return, but they're giving up their 1st round prospects from 2017, 2019, 2020 drafts, and the 2nd rounder from 2021. Not the greatest return for Soto, but frankly how can you get fair value for a guy like that.

Hahn’s inability to draft outside the first rd strikes again. Their farm is trash

Hahn after the deadline passed. It’s crazy how they weren’t able to get anything, but frankly what did they even have to offer to get anyone of substance?

I don't agree with this. When you swing from drafting college guys nearly MLB ready and start drafting HS players - that's a four-year step back. The Sox started the season as the 30th ranked minor league talent with no one in the top 100, but as of today the Sox have 3 guys in the top 60: Colson Montgomery - Oscar Colas - and Bryon Ramos. Also, recently Jared Kelley - Matt Thompson and Norge Vera have really pitched well.

If the sox wanted to trade for talent - they have about 5 guys with talent who are basically suited for two positions 1st Base or DH players: Vaughn, Sheets, Abreu, Grandal and Eloy.

There'll be some bullsh*t "The trainer doesn't want us to get injured" excuse that they've been dribbling out there recently. Man does he look like a jackass doing that with those ridiculous yellow gloves/shoes. Like a caricature of a lazy athlete portrayal in a movie...

Hahn after the deadline passed. It’s crazy how they weren’t able to get anything, but frankly what did they even have to offer to get anyone of substance?

I mean...Rick Hahn is a goddamn magician with his ability to bullsh*t.

The f*cking guy traded away arguably the two best players to come out of our farm system since Frank Thomas within 6 months of each other. The first was because "We need a grizzled experienced vet pitcher for a playoff push"...so how does he do that? Dumping one of our greatest position prospects to get that grizzled vet. And how did that playoff push go? Yeah....

Meanwhile now we see that traded prospect has literally redifined another franchise..."Generational Talent." Ouch.

He follows this greatest f*ckup of all f*ckups up by trading away our best pitcher/come-of-age pitching prospect since Mark Buehrle...6...months...later. Why? Because we needed "prospects" for the upcoming "Great ascent." Yeah...

And a lot of fans fell hard for this "plan"...More after we showed potential on the field...but a lot thought "Oh yeah, you can see our greatness right around the corner" even before seeing on-field results. Ol' Ricky boy really sold us the bill o' goods. Sigh. We all believed in the guy who made one of the all-time greatest f*ckups in Chicago sports history. And now are possibly getting our just desserts for that misplaced trust.

Hahn-conned should be a term.

To be fair, it definitely looked like he might just have pulled it off for a couple years here. I believed for sure...but in the end we might not even get a playoff series win out of this iteration of the team. That is so freaking hard to swallow. I mean...If we don't get a playoff series win this year or next, much less miss the playoffs in one or both? Is that one of the most disappointing sh*tshows in the history of Chicago sports? It's gotta be up there.

Sad. I wouldn't blink an eye if they canned Hahn if we miss the playoffs. But he won't be. LaRussa is going to shield that guy's deserved ousting. Then we'll see what next season brings.

omg! are you still going on about sale?

The merit of the trade player for player? ie what we got for Sale vs keeping Sale? Not anymore, that’s been hashed out.

Moreso that it’s hard not to see how dumb that trade looks in hindsight when you consider we ended up trading away a better prospect than all the ones we got from Sale combined only months earlier. Just a retrospective on Hahn’s moves and what the hell his thought process was.

How many GM’s get away with trading away the best player on a team AND the best prospect (one that is on the path for the HOF probably) within a 6 month period? Or better yet, having those trades followed by years of losing and when the team FINALLY gets competitive, it massively underachieves?

How can anyone not be questioning Hahn at this point is moreso the point.

wasn't questioning your point about hahn. i agree with the utter stupidity of trading away tatis ...AT THE TIME and forever more! i just don't see the value in including the sale trade as part of your complaint. it was one of the better/smarter trades AT THE TIME, and still.

73 million. Largest contract in White Sox history. That I can still say that leaves me speechless.
