so i'd say we don't agree on the original punishment. it's about breaking an important rule.
"Any player, umpire, or Club or League official or employee, who shall bet any sum whatsoever upon any baseball game in connection with which the bettor has a duty to perform, shall be declared permanently ineligible,"
every criminal knows they'll be punished if they're caught.
the hall, in particular, which has nothing to do with the machinations of the game itself, is pure god-like praise for the players elected.
the ban was never meant to be just "for a lifetime". this punishment is strong to make someone think twice about betting on baseball. if they feel they will get that 'official' praise anyway when they're gone then what have they really lost by gambling? nothing! everyone already knows what they accomplished. that's not erased in any way. in rose's heart he knew he was one of the best. but knowing he would never get that 'god-like' status was the point! at least that's how i view it. now manfred removes the ban. just because he can. kinda like trump doing all the treasonous things he's done just because he can.
i will admit that i couldn't stand pete rose. he was a major asshole outside of the game plus i think he was a dirty player, but he earned that ban! now he may be enshrined. pathetic!
as for joe jackson ... he was dumb enough to earn it as well. he thought he could play both sides by not throwing the game yet taking the money.
we know jackson was the great hitter he was. don't need a hall for that. plus you and i both know there are guys in there that don't belong. if i'm really honest about it .... the hall was a bad idea.

my hope is that enough voters think my way and don't vote them in anyway.

Another loss when leading late had me curious - in 2024 Sox had a staggering 33-23 record when leading after 6 innings - good for a 58% winning percentage. No other team was below 72%, with most being above or well above 80%.

This roster has losing ingrained in their culture - so glad to see Vaughn sent down, hopefully Robert can get traded as well.

16 of their losses this season were by 1 run. not sure if this is encouraging or not.

It's just hard being excited about this team when even if a couple players show potential you KNOW they're out the door in the near future.

Until they have some semblance of an actual core baseball team with at least some potential, it's just a waste of time.
