The Sox will still pick 1st in every round beginning with the 2nd round.
True, we do get first crack in every round thereafter. But nothing like getting the top rated player in the entire draft. I'll go to my grave thinking this rule sucks. They need to amend it.

A nice Bobby Witt Jr. type would look good in Chicago.

the last ten top draft picks:

2024: Travis Bazzana, 2B, Guardians
2023: Paul Skenes, RHP, Pirates
2022: Jackson Holliday, SS, Orioles
2021: Henry Davis, C, Pirates
2020: Spencer Torkelson, 3B, Tigers
2019: Adley Rutschman, C, Orioles
2018: Casey Mize, RHP, Tigers
2017: Royce Lewis, SS, Twins
2016: Mickey Moniak, OF, Phillies
2015: Dansby Swanson, SS, D-backs

not impressed with any of them!

many believed that moncada was a top rated pick, and he's sitting on his ass in our dugout.

I believe Moncada was an international signing by the Red Sox.

Jackson Holliday - is the #1 prospect in baseball.
Rutschman - is doing very well - probably rookie of the year candidate
Torkelson and Swanson - are major leaguers
'Some were HS players.

Only 11 of the first 59 number one picks in the MLB draft are considered the best choice based on today's information.
my point is it's not the position they're picked in that determines how good a player will be. it's how they're developed. imo the sox are lousy developers therefore it doesn't matter who they pick or when. one third of #1 picks never make the majors anyway. it's a crap shoot.

Lenyn Sosa is hitting .385 in September - he has also done well in the field. Let's bring him back.

And interestingly enough, the Sox are 5-5 in their last 10 games (and short of a total collapse today, are set to sweep the Angels and go 6-5). Not sure if there's any such previous stretch of games where we played .500 ball.

Sox up 7-0 as we post. If they take the next series in Detroit with the playoff contenders - it will leave a better taste.

The Tigs are in the thick of the postseason race, so we can pretty much count on them throwing everything at us to clinch a spot. Might only take one game for them to get in and if so, I can see them resting some of their key personnel or at least limiting their playing time for the other games.

The Sox saved Crochet to tomorrow's start - meaning they would love to send the Tigs into depression.

I'm not suggesting this will happen, but if these Sox sweep the Tigers and end this season with two series sweeps just to stall tied in baseball infamy- that would be goofy enough to fit the Sox history of goofy stuff.
