and getting Knicks future picks is never a bad bet.....lol......you know the implosion is gonna happen at some point.

Do they really have 8 picks?
Not all theirs, but that was a key part of their recent trade discussions is that they have 8 tradable picks. It's almost like trading with OKC or Houston, but for a franchise that has vet players to move.

yah I was just looking......its complex....they do have rights to Wiz and Pistons picks- but both are pretty heavily protected for a long time....not likely to transfer for years- if ever--- at some point they convert to 2nd rounders......got a Bucks pick in 2025....got a Mavs pick that may transfer actually next year...

I cant believe these teams that are trading totally unprotected picks AND pick swaps for years and years to come......thats the type of deal you want.

Houston is going to just destroy the Nets if/when Durant and Kyrie are dealt.

I never thought the "pick swaps" with the Pelicans would burn the Lakers---- but with McCollum, Ingram, and Zion- if Zion actually becomes what we thought (a big IF)- those pick swaps could sting a little.

Pels have right to swap picks next draft in 2023

2024- Pels get the Lakers pick- or they could defer until 2025...which I think they will do IF LeBron stays for 2 more years.

then its over......

so - the first pick the Lakers can trade is 2026...and then the next pick they can trade is 2028.....

honestly - I have no clue what happens with the Cavs next year...the East is deep

there are only 3 teams that are either too young/rebuilding/not good--- Pistons, Pacers, Magic

the Knicks, Wiz, Hornets (with Bridges situation)- are all not great - but certianly not teams that you can just chalk a W up against - esp. with a team that is so young like the Cavs

Tiers in the East:

Contenders:
Celtics
Bucks
Sixer
Heat

Good Teams:
Raptors
Bulls
Hawks

Who Knows:
Cavs
Nets

Mediocre:
Wiz
Knicks
Hornets

Rebuilding:
Pacers
Pistons
Magic

I could see the Cavs as a 5th seed if they stay healthy and catch breaks (maybe even 3 or 4 if guys like Embiid, Harden, Butler, Lowry show age/health issues). I could see them at 9 if things go to hell.

One day it will all make sense

I agree with this.

Still think I agree with ranking him at 3 based on upside though. Just not in the top tier. Yet.

He started to figure it out late last year. Because they were so bad last year people overlooked a stretch they actually went 11 and 11 after the break as him and Bey started clicking.

Don't think he will be a 40 percent 3 pt shooter like he was in college but but he's a great free throw shooter and because of his size can get his shot easier than most on that list. Defensively he started coming on as well last year. His metrics are pretty good considering how shitty Detroit was. He will be a better defender than most on that list also.

Cousins hit the nail on the head with this comment @thunderc

It is what I been saying all along

Obviously, he has to get stronger just for longevity. But talking about him getting bullied and stuff — they don’t even post up anymore… Outside of Jokic, Embiid and maybe Karl-Anthony Towns, guys really don’t post up. I don’t think that’s a concern for me

Right.

And guys like Trae Young will never be 2 way players.

Cade should be.

plus- with Harden there- Maxey is not even really playing the point....less than 4 apg.......he has more Sexton to his game than Garland....more of a combo than a pg....but obviously part of that is opportunity.

my point is---- point guard is loaded with young talent.....over half the teams in the league have a good young point guard that could make an all star game or two.
You brought up the PG position.....I said he could be a really good #2. Moving the goal posts? LOL.

There's nothing called bully ball? Stop it.

Lofton exposed him.

Which is why I don’t believe he will ever be the elite defender his shot blocking and advanced stats will paint him as.

But that doesn’t mean he can’t be an elite player.

Very few bigs in the league post up frequently which is the point Cousins clearly made

Sure, but weaknesses will get exposed and taken advantage of by smart teams/coaches. Guys like AD, Zubac, Valunciunas etc have gone unmentioned, but they could take advantage as well. The same way teams repeatedly go after soft defenders to get them benched in crunch time.

Valanciunas is one of the guys on my list. Towns isn't. AD is afraid to play in the paint. He will go in there every now and then but most of his stuff come on the perimeter. People also fail to look at the other end of things. These guys have to defend Chet as well. Outside of Embiid and AD, a lot of these centers will have a hard time guarding Chet
