Me either.

Roger Goodell no longer has final say on whether Deshaun Watson violated NFL's personal conduct policy

Watson's future will rest in the hands of an arbitrator. After that, if it's found a violation of the personal conduct policy has occurred, his punishment will ultimately rest in the hands of the NFL and Goodell.

If the independent arbitrator determines a personal conduct violation has occurred, the arbitrator can ultimately determine the punishment for the infraction. If the NFL disagrees with the punishment, the league can appeal it to Goodell, who ultimately has a significant measure of power over the process once it's agreed a violation took place.
Right, that's what I recalled. I missed the part about an official appeal to Goodell instead of him just deciding, but pretty much the same thing

Cannot recall which one but an insider said Goodell has no say if no punishment is handed down. THAT decision cannot be appealed.
Though that seems unlikely at this point.
That may be true. I'm not even considering that a possibility in this case though

I never said it was all the Texans fault but it would be blind to the fact that the Texans didn’t play some part in this. Why would he need nda’s. Kind of common sense. This has nothing to do with what Watson did, of course he knew what he was doing. But he does, do you not think the Texans knew or caught on at some point? Cmon man. Yes those stories from the “victims” are tough to hear but then you also here how they went back to him 2 or 3 times to give massages. Cmon man. There is a lot of stupidity all around here. That doesn’t mean that the women deserved it but it doesn’t mean they are all innocent like you seem to believe. News for you, I would guarantee a lot more than 3 of the 66 had sex with Watson or did other things with him. In a perfect world maybe. The only thing Buzbee has is to keep putting more and more plaintiffs on the stand or to tell their story. We probably see more, problem is why wouldn’t their lawyers take their cases two years ago? It’s obvious Buzbee has a motive from day one. Again, not saying Watson is innocent…but I’ve already said everything I need to say about him. I will never root for him as a person, if he wins games great but I’ve seen too many cases where women lie to get money. It happens all the time, go ahead and believe all 24 and their full details. Shit doesn’t add up.
If Texans had a inking or not doesn’t matter one way or the other. It wasn’t to their benefit to have these complaints come out, because it tanked Watson trade value so they had to keep him and pay big bucks for him not to play.
Some of these complaints may be suspect, but many seem legit and even women not filing against have spoken out and verified his freakish behavior. As for taking a additional session I say these women deal with inappropriate behavior from clients on occasion and feel they can handle/ contain/ limit it and some may not even mind it from a young, good looking, famous, and rich guy. Doesn’t excuse him from responsibilities for inappropriate behavior that goes to far by a lot. He needs to be taught that what he has done is not acceptable and long suspension will help teach him not to do that again….hopefully.
I get that while you hate his actions you want your team to succeed thus your torn about upcoming action from the league. Hard not to try to cast the blame on others because you want the Browns to survive this disaster but for non Browns fans it’s clear Watson needs to be punished. In fact I feel the Browns should also be punished harshly for their role in aiding Watson to escape the full measure of punishment due him.

Not really the same thing. Seems pretty clear the NFLPA wanted to be sure Goodell does not have the power to be the one to determine a punishment AND be the one who makes the decision on appeals. Now he only handles appeals.

wow....think ya went a bit overboard with that last comment. How have the Browns aided him here? Hell, why stop at the Browns? How about the entire city of Cleveland be punished?

Not even sure what's going on with the little details and truthfully don't care.

I just want the suspension announced sooner than later.

It makes no different who has the final say in things to me.

Just don't drag it out all summer.
I want it to drag out until next summer :thumb:

It has already been established that the Browns have aided Watson to escape financial harm from a 2022 suspension, so don’t start up with that baloney again.

Correct me if I'm wrong. What I remembered from when this changed was that It doesn't go to the arbitrator until/when the league wants it to. There obviously will be a suspension whomever is hearing the matter. I'm mean that's one thing I assume everyone who is breathing can agree to, right? If the NFL doesn't agree with the suspension length from the arbitrator then Goodell makes the final call on the suspension. Perhaps I have the last part wrong, but that's what I remembered and why the whole thing was considered a sham in the first place.
Yes, I agree the thought of no suspension seems highly unlikely. I had read some things that led me to believe it was changed and more fair for the players but found this so you might be right it is kind of a sham. Luckily I have no need for swamp land anywhere....

"the process would commence with the league proposing a punishment. Judge Robinson then would decide whether Watson should be disciplined, and if so the penalty to be imposed.

Commissioner Roger Goodell would then have exclusive jurisdiction over any appeal, pursued by the league or Watson. If any discipline is imposed by Judge Robinson, Goodell could then implement the discipline the NFL originally requested, if he so chooses. Neither side would have no appeal rights beyond Goodell’s final decision.

Thus, while the process creates the impression of independence, the ability of Goodell to swoop in and disagree with the Judge Robinson makes it not much different than it was. Although Goodell has removed himself from the preliminary decision, he still has final say over the outcome — unless Judge Robinson finds that there should be no discipline imposed at all."

what has been established is you can or wont own up to the notion the low base in year 1 of a large deal is common for the Browns and many teams.

So what have ya got that states the Browns have done anything but cooperate with the NFL in their investigation and have tried "aiding Watson to escape the full measure of punishment due him."

Her story is suspect at best though likely just a lie. Out of 100 not one person called the police?
Do you think 26 women out of a hundred are typically conniving liars?

so he loses more than a measly million bucks

That would happen? Damn, didn't realize that. Gotta say that does have a nice ring to it. I like the idea.

And not for benefit of him playing all season.

A suspension along with losing alotta money is even better.

I'm tapping out. I was already feeling pretty gross mildly defending this trade. Even if it works out the stink of this will take several years to fade.

Just a wildly misguided trade. Watson is easily the better talent but this was just a purely bad decision.

typically? no.

But when an attorney makes it public to call him if you ever gave a massage to Watson if he did anything public he could get you a lot of money there might be a large % of liars.

don't worry, my friend. Once a punishment is handed down there will definitely be outrage from one side of this....then it will quickly die down.
