In fact, yes, I do think it would happen because of how brash, arrogant and cocky as he is. whether true or not, I'm confident he believes if healthy he can play well and this would give him the chance to show everyone.
Browns lost their best window to trade Mayfield, because the one thing the Browns had going for them was the QB class this season was poor, but they let the draft come and go and still have Mayfield. I think at this point Mayfield would rather just get released then traded and I see things ramping up Antonio Brown style until he makes it happen.
I still think Carolina could be interested in Mayfield. They drafted Corral but Rhule's job is on the line.....think Corral is a future pick.
Neither is Mayfield. The Browns missed their window of opportunity. Either they were wanting more then was offered or maybe there flat isn't any interest in Mayfield.
Mayfield is a better QB than Darnold and Corral combined.
Bust is a bust, no point in ranking them. Panthers are stuck with Darnold now ( with a big salary which is one more reason not to trade for Mayfield) and Corral is dirt cheap and brings more anticipation then a retread for the third year in a row.

Browns have had a good roster and whatever success they have had was in spite of Mayfield mediocre play.
If you go back 1 year, the two QBs he is next to are Watson and Kyler Murray. I'm not sure this is the best way to measure a QB tbh.
