Browns extended Ward. 5 years, $100.5 mil.....$70 mil+ guaranteed
i saw that.....wowzer

Garrett, Watson and Ward are making bank on the Browns.

Good guys to pay- but thats a lot of $.

think about all the cap they saved on OBJ and Landry though--- Hooper will be off after this year. Tretter is gone.

I like that they have spent on the main positions---- QB, DE, CB, have a fairly cheap LT in Willis......but itll be an interesting juggle job- all though- from what I have read- the cap is set to explode with new TV deals and gambling money soon.

Garretts contract is already way under what he would get today. I suspect the same will be true of most of these guys as the cap continues to rise the next 2-3 years. In the long run- signing them up now might be very good business.

His numbers are deceiving but he is a lockdown top 10 CB imo. Those cap numbers will look better in a couple years and will be a bargain. A lot of guaranteed...well the Browns can thank the Browns haha. It was only a matter of time until this happened, the process was just expedited.

They are going to have to get awfully creative with the cap
Yeah but I believe in Berry. He is a cap genius. He's been preparing for this from day 1. Extend Garrett and Ward, pay a QB. Going to have to get creative with other positions like DT, LB, S and most importantly WR. Cap carryover helps too, they should have more carryover next season too.

The great thing is this will lower his '22 cap number which creates more room. I'm sure once the year by year contract comes out it won't look too bad. I'm sure a lot of it is bonus.

I think the numbers already came out. His '22 salary went from $13.5 to $4.5. Which might open up a play at another big move this offseason.

Currently have $20M in cap space.
+ $9.5M from Hooper early cut (june 1st)
+$18.5M - possible Baker salary traded or at least a portion
+$9.0M - Ward extension

Clowney most definitely signs but then they still have quite a bit of money even if they don't trade Baker or have to pay a portion of his salary.

Exactly. Not many better than depo and Berry in maneuvering the cap from what I can tell. Heard cap expected to rise $20-25mil+ in each of the next few seasons.....$20 mil should become the norm. From 2013-2020 going up about $10 mil each season was about the norm

I think the $20 mil already includes dumping Hooper. But this move and Baker would have us at nearly $50 mil if we can deal baker. Guessing we use maybe half then carry over the rest.

I don't know why they would include it if it isn't official till June 1st but anyway, a whole lot of money this year and carryover, like you said. Berry has a long-term plan.

im not sure- i think it only hits after june 1- though not sure

even if it doesnt--- he has dead cap of most of his salary this year. The real relief on Hooper isnt till next year.

Better Call Saul finally back for the final season starting tonight. No idea how long it’s been between seasons this time, at least 2 years I think.
