If I remember that stat right ..the Lakers were 11-10 when Lebron, Davis & Russ were on the floor.

There is a chemistry problem that goes far beyond the issues with injuries & Russ.

21 games isn't a lot of time together when you're incorporating 3 guys that are used to being the man.

Again, this one isn't on Lebron...this is on the Lakers organization and everyone not named Lebron. Don't worry the Cavs will get him back to the Promised Land soon

He's not totally to blame, but he is part of the problem when they had a deal in place for DeRozan and could have kept KCP and Caruso.

Yeah, I get what folks are saying and ultimately, while he is arguably the most powerful player in the league, Lebron doesn't have the power to actually make a trade. So, in that respect, folks are right when they say it ultimately falls on the FO.

But, if anyone thinks their team wouldn't (or didn't) do the same thing if/when they had Lebron, they are lying to themselves.

I'm glad the Lakers told him it was his mess and he gets to stew in it. The only problem is that it may be too little too late. Getting things turned around to the point of being able to contend next year depends on moving Westbrook and there doesn't appear to be any interest in him around the league.

Cowherd had an interesting idea. Basically, it was trade Westbrook for what they can get and then trade AD for younger parts that fit Lebron better. Says that, along with some smart role player acquisitions could get them back to true contender status.

The problem is, we don't know what AD's trade value is and there will be no playoffs for him to get back some of whatever value may have been lost. Also, a healthy AD is a perfect complement to how Lebron plays. It would be hard to move past that.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the off-season, but I'm preparing myself for them essentially punting next season by just changing out some of the 1 year guys, hoping to re-sign Monk and hoping Nunn actually plays.

If they do that, AD actually shows up in shape and stays relatively healthy, they could have a good team. Probably not a real contender, but a solid playoff team...then they are done with the Westbrook and Lebron contracts and should have a decent amount of cap space.

AD needs to get a trainer to keep his body in shape and to prevent from him breaking down so much. No serious injuries but nagging little injuries keeping him in street clothes.

Nunn isn't a star but if he returns from this injury he could be a really solid player for them. Probably start at PG for them (in theory since James runs the offense). And being just 26 he makes them younger.

It's not all gloom and doom, despite a really bad season.

I mean- LeBron is amazing obviously- at least 2nd best player of all time. So much fun to root for- but personally- I think he is a dick. I think he thinks he is way smarter than he is off the court- and is just a plain dick.

Lue had an opportunity to reunite with James when the Lakers interviewed him for the coaching job in 2019. But the Lakers offered Lue a three-year deal worth $18 million, far below the five-year, $35-million deal he had with the Cavs, and wanted to dictate Lue’s staff. Lue pulled out of negotiations and the Lakers hired Frank Vogel.

“The Lakers [saw it] more so as like [I’m just] coming to coach LeBron,” Lue said. “No, I’m coming to win. I just didn’t think I was treated fairly. And I wasn’t just going to accept any offer just to get a job.

“I just thought I was better than that.”

In hindsight, the Lakers’ subsequent bungling of the negotiations, turning what seemed to be a sure thing into a blown opportunity, has aged pretty badly. Even in the moment, it felt like the Lakers stumbling over themselves.

Eventually, the team turned to Frank Vogel as their third option and subsequently won a title with him. But that doesn’t change how poorly things went with Lue — now considered one of the best coaches in the NBA, while Vogel sits just a few weeks away from being fired


Linda Rambis insisted on her husband being on the staff. lol. its just too much. The lesson? You can inhereit money- but inheriting brains is much more rare.

You can play what if forever......but the Lakers did in fact win a title with Vogel. You'd have more of a point if they didn't.

You think LeBron & Rich Paul have been friends since childhood? If they have been friends that long explain how is that possible since they didn't meet until 2002. And Paul hasn't been LeBron's agent his entire career. Only since 2012.

Yep. I agree with, I believe it was @shopson67 who said that it looked like AD added some muscle last off-season, so saying he was "out of shape" like I did isn't completely accurate. Hopefully, this off-season he works on stretching, strengthening his core, ligaments, etc.

Another suggestion I heard was bringing AD back, hoping he stays healthy, then move him at the All Star break. Problem is, if he's actually staying healthy, why would they want to move him? He may not be a #1, but if the Lakers can get another #1 (or Lebron is still the #1) he's arguably the best #2 in the game.

He was just handed an old, injured roster and left to try to somehow make it work.

While not all his fault, still very possible he's fired as early as Monday.
