he answered your Q already and you greatly overvalue JG as you can see
We are one of those teams in despair Cali. Perhaps a 2nd would do it but I seriously doubt we do not over pay regardless of what vet we bring in. Ron will be swinging for the fences to get a QB in here. We haven't had a QB as good as JG since Cousins and he is absolutely better than Cousins.

we do not need to OVERPAY for JG who would be lucky to command a R2 pick with what you were thinking. our first rounder 11 and Daron???!!!

really? we aint that desperate for what he would bring to the table.

Carr is barely worth that in my book and he will be waaaay overpaid (easily 2 first rounders and more ... and Vegas would likely think 3) if he goes elsewhere because of the scarcity at the position in the QB market right now.

I agree with most of what you are saying Niner all though we could only dream of having Jimmy G. WTF was Kyle doing calling a pass play up 23-10 anyways? Piss poor job by HC. The snap you speak of, WTF was TW doing lining up opposite of where he lines up and never got set. That was on Jimmy also huh? Your right, a couple errant passes, who doesn't do that however, 1 in particular should have never been called at the juncture of the game. If Jimmy isn't your QB this year, you don't even make the playoffs with Lance. Always looking for a reason to jettison a very good QB is easy these days but trying to find one is even harder, just look at us. I know this, the guys is a winner, bottom line.
Since he is somewhat dispensable, would you take our #11 and Daron Payne for Jimmy G? That's about all I would offer and would say fair for both teams. At 11, he would be the best QB in this draft imo. Thoughts?
I remember floundering for years at QB.
--The Niners just couldn't find one. We went with S.Thomas over Mahomes and the gang (...:puke:)
--Then we were gonna wait for Cousins.
--Then we jumped early with Grop's trade and he looked very good
--Then he missed the season injured
--Then healthy and SB year
--Then missed almost all the next season injured
--Now, here we are back in the playoffs while getting to keep Lance on the bench for a year (a real luxury)
--Lance walks into as good a situation as a young QB could hope for (sat a year, OL, WR, TE, running game).

I agree that Grop would be an upgrade for some teams and that the Niners moving on without him in favor of an untested young guy is VERY risky. The Niners aren't getting rid of him b/c he's a bum--they're moving on b/c the Shanny and Lynch decided that Grop simply wasn't dependable and risk/reward enough to give another big contract to (think at least 35M/yr), and that last offseason was the best (last?) time to trade up for a rookie QB if we were ever going to do it. They're going all-in with Lance and a playoff year this season will buy Shanny/Lynch some job security insulation when the team struggles in 2022.

As for Kyle--he can't win over everyone. In Atlanta, he was throwing the ball too much and cost them the SB, but in the SF SB, he got too conservative too quickly and cost them the SB. Here in Dallas, being up 2 scores with more than 10 minutes left on the clock shouldn't stop you from calling pass plays. Missing open receivers by yards is on the QB, not the playcaller.

Many a Niner fan asked the same question regarding the Williams shift. What exactly was it supposed to accomplish? Everyone and their grandmother knew Grop was running behind C/LG. Maybe the switch was to move/misdirect one more defender to the right? I still don't get it. However, snapping the ball before Williams was set IS on Jimmy. Period. He admitted he just got too excited and tapped for the ball too early.

A vet of Grop's level is going to be better in year 1 than pretty much any rookie QB and I think he'll be better than most of the young Qbs in year 2 or 3. The difference will be what you have to pay for Grop (draft and contract) vs. what you pay a rookie (draft). If the Skins want Grop, you should be happy to know that he'll be a lot cheaper than the 11th pick and Payne. I think the Niner FO would jump for joy if they got an early 2 for him. I certainly would.

John McClain was on Mitch and Finlay today. He's Houston's John Keim except better.

Said today that when Watson originally held out eight teams called trying to trade for Watson. Skins were one of them.

After the allegations broke only four teams continued pursuit. Panthers, Dolphins, Eagles, and Broncos.

Texans had a deal done with the Dolphins at the deadline for three 1st and a 3rd. At the last second the Dolphins got cold feet.

McClain said Watson doesn't care about that coach in Miami that just got fired. He just really wanted to live in South Beach.

You don't know sheet dad. The guy is a formidable QB in a league where there are only 32 of them. When all are healthy, including himself, he is still 1 of 32 and that's more than I can say for our team who is currently looking for 1 of the 32. Now, do I hope we draft one? Yes, but not because of necessity, I would rather draft one where the value is there and not burn up pick #11 because we reach. We could always entice Cousins to come back, how would that look.

I understand your reasons for wanting JG but we definitely have different ideas concerning how much should be given up for him.

I don't want Cuz back but I also don't think JG is better than him. he is more injured than Cuz yearly. and don't forget availability is the most critical thing at any position, regardless of talent, but especially at QB

His stats were no better then falco ‘s . The 49ers traded up to get Lance because because Grap has one foot in a surgeon’s office starting at OTAS

Yep, which is why I believe Lance will get the nod starting in camp next year. Look, JG may not and likely will not happen given the circumstances however, if it does, I'm not against it short term. That said, its likely a draft pick and lower tier bridge vet do happen.

Whoa, now I'm all for trolling Cousins, he's a choker and basically pistol whipped the Vikings and took their lunch money while lining up behind Guards and not Centers...
But I would never, ever say JG is "absolutely better" than Cousins. Cousins is in whole 'nother tier.

Cousins has and never will sniff a SB, that's not trolling.

That can be said of most NFL QBs ..... he is however better than anyone who has been a QB here since his departure.

I made the comment when he left, let me know when you find his equal .... still waiting.

Forgot to mention that McClain said yesterday the reason the Dolphins/Watson deal fell apart was because Watson could only secure settlements in 18 out of the 22 cases.
