I don't know about Chris Stewart, seems to have some work ethic and attitude isues, he could be more trouble than he's worth...

Admittedly I see very little of him being in the West and all, but I do remember that breakout season he had. That's tempting. And the article makes a pretty good point about Hitch's system. I just think that he'll be a cheaper trade option than Ryan as plan B.

I like Stewart. He should definately be motivated after a tough seasn last year. The talent is their. He just needs to play on a line with players who can bring it out of him. He got stuck in Hitchcock's dog house last year. Granted Hitchcock had every reason to put him their & throw away the key. It's time for Stewart to step up. I don't want to see him on the Pens.

Sometimes players get into that dangerous cycle where they hit a slump, get demoted, get depressed, and start to slack off on the work ethic...which doesn't help at all. Relegating a guy like him to the fourth line is silly though. The article made a pretty good point about him being the equivalent to Neal. That certainly peaked my interest, haha.

What is holding up a deal is CBJ want top assets and Flyers wont agree to Schenn and Couturier. L Schenn deal last week a factor here

lol - Olli is likely looking for a pretty nice payday (4.5 million would be my guess) and the Flames probably think that's at least a million too much. If the Isles do sign Olli, I hope he does well on the island.

If they re-sign Carle I could see a deal being possible. Howson wants too much now, not because Nash isn't an insanely talented player but because it's publically known that management has alienated Nash. I think the most the Flyers could do is send Read, Carle/Mez a 2nd and CBJ' 4th fit next year back for Nash. That probably won't be their best offer and I'd personally rather give up the same package for Ryan(since I think he'd be the better fit here). I'm not a fan of Nash's cap hit either since Weber will be a UFA after next season(more then likely) & I'd prefer to be able to make him an solid offer and we'll need space to resign our "core" if Homer doesn't trade them all first.

Canucks are going to counter with a Raymond, Ballard and a 2nd round draft pick so Philly taint got a chance..........

but first we offer that to Nash for Weber so its ok you can have nash.....

If we resigned Carle it would make more sense, but I think I would prefer a slightly deeper D than going hard for Nash. In today's salary cap NHL Read is alot more valuable than he seems. For 900k (I think so, anyway) he is a total steal and great for a deep team like ours. Frankly, even if a trade does work for Nash, it would be better if we just didnt pull the trigger. Build through the free agent market tomorrow. No need in losing our assets.

Isn't that what you've offered for anyone who's been available for the past year? I mean I might give you Shelley for that but not much more. Raymond coming off a major injury, Ballard is over-rated/paid and your 2nd will be around 55-60 in the draft. I'm not sure what you have in your system but if you want to get Weber you're kissing most of it goodbye.

no no that injury was just faked to get a penalty/suspension. please dont pay attention. lol you know Im kidding right :) its the offer the 14 year old canuck fans always give.

We have no need for Nash. and I dont think we can actually afford Weber for a trade we dont have those assets. we have to hope we can get him for UFA at the very least.

I agree with you I'd rather have 6 top 4 d-men so that we can hopefully rest them up before the playoffs. I honestly don't want Nash and it's for his cap not lack of talent. Nash on G's wing would be nasty, G would prob win the Hart and Nash the Rocket but I just think it limits us too much cap wise with all the money we have wrapped up in our D. I'll say again I'd rather have Ryan because I think he fits in our system and would genuinely love to play here.

I'm not trying to undervalue Read he's an absolute steal at 900k, it's just I realize if we're getting someone good and not trading Schenn & Couturier then Read is probably the next guy on the list. In fact I'm actually upset how most people glance over Read and seem to not understand how valuable he is. Yes he is 26 and older then traditional rookies but I think that works in his favor, he plays an all around game. He's fast as hell, has an accurate quick release shot, plays a great 2 way game, kills penalties like a 10 year veteran & he works hiss ass off every night.

If the Flyers can manage to stay healthy they should be fine. There is absolutely no reason to make a move for Nash. A complete roster overhaul managed to work last year, moving a bunch of bodies for a guy they don't necessarily need is just asking for trouble.

Yea I figured u were kidding. Nash with the aliens would be sick though. Weber is prob gonna be getting 9m+ if he make it to ufa next year, unless he wants to play for a contender in which I could see him taking a slight reduction since he'll be able to choose where he plays. I will say right now if Weber goes to ufa I don't think the Flyers will be out bid, now that can be good or bad but I know how much the organization covets players like Weber and we should have the cap space to fit him in(if not I'm sure Homer will just trade people).
