Mariners offseason wish list: What Seattle needs as club looks to build momentum and end playoff droughtStarting pitching and a few big bats will help guide the Mariners

Speaking of former Cubs and third base, Kris Bryant is absolutely a fit here. Keep your eyes on Bryant-Mariners rumors. He might be the favorite.

Past him, it's hard to see Chris Taylor wanting a second go-round here after how the first time went, but sometimes money talks. Eduardo Escobar could work and he can play either second or third.

The trade route could work here as well, especially if the A's are open to dealing within the division. Matt Chapman had a terrible offensive season in 2021, but we've seen him hit like an MVP before and having Chapman playing third base beside Crawford on the left side would certainly be enticing to the pitching staff.

Perhaps the biggest swings for the fences in the trade market? José Ramírez or a reunion with Ketel Marte.

Underrated free-agent hitters who could boost Mariners' lineup

BRANDON GUSTAFSON

Underrated free-agent hitters who could boost Mariners’ lineup

Yan Gomes

Gomes, a one-time All-Star and Silver Slugger, has pretty consistently been one of the better-hitting catchers in the big leagues since his MLB debut in 2012, possessing a career .247/.299/.421 slash line with 117 home runs in 882 games.
3B/2B Eduardo Escobar
Under-the-radar pitchers who could help raise the M’s floor

How about someone who, in a pinch, could fill either spot?

Eduardo Escobar, 32, had a fantastic year between his time with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Milwaukee Brewers in 2021, earning his first All-Star nod. Escobar slashed .253/.314/.472 with 28 home runs and 90 RBIs, and in 2019 he hit 35 home runs and drove in 118 runs.
3B/2B Jonathan Villar

Jonathan Villar, who was with the New York Mets in 2021, started his MLB career playing mostly shortstop and second base, but he played 97 of his 126 games in 2021 at the hot corner. Villar is also just two years removed from playing all 162 games for the Baltimore Orioles, with 111 coming at second.
2B Donovan Solano
r the San Francisco Giants the last three years, can really hit. He won the Silver Slugger in 2020 and slashed .280/.344/.404 in 101 games for the Giants in 2021.

Kevin Pillar

Kevin Pillar, 33 in January, has been a solid hitter since making his debut in 2013, averaging 15 home runs, 62 RBIs and 14 stolen bases per 162 games. He has a career slash line of .260/.297/.409 and can play all three outfield spots, though he typically plays center.

Pillar would be a good stopgap in center for Lewis and/or Rodríguez, and he’d be a more than capable fourth outfielder if that situation arose as well.

im prob in between...i dont..like tradeing the mariners minors guys...(and im not )...even though i simulate it.....but it is all...about making the mariners better.....when the mariners can do that...and help the other team as well....
im sure..they will have a trade...

and good luck..to them...

or they will have no interest in the trade..on either side...

Which top prospects should the Mariners be willing to trade?

Jake Heaps is probably the most eager of the three voices from the show to see the Mariners use their prospect capital in a blockbuster deal this offseason.

“You can’t sit there with these cards and keep them close to your vest,” Heaps said. “The other (scenario) that you probably would have to look at, and this is where I would love to see what the reaction would be, is I don’t think it would come down to two pitchers. I don’t think it would come down to ‘George Kirby and Emerson Hancock, here’s the deal, take it or leave it.’ It probably would look something more like Emerson Hancock and (No. 2 M’s prospect and shortstop) Noelvi Marte.

“If it came down to that, I would have to say yeah, I probably would do the deal because of José Ramírez, where he’s at age-wise and the impact that he can have for your team in his prime years. … You’re going to get a proven commodity, so you have to give up potential talent. … If you want to go and make a splash with a trade like that, guess what – you’re going to have to give away some of those pieces and be comfortable living with it.”

I read that earlier and about puked. I can see Escobar as a two year add, but the rest are retreads that I want nothing to do with.

Well hopefully his upside is more than Cameron’s. No disrespect to Cam but he was a great OF but no offense outside of power. Still think he is the 1st guy who hit 4 HR’s in a day then strikeout 4 times the next day. Or something like that

I loved Cammy. He wasn't Jr., but a great team player that you could win with.
