They could very well be sellers at the trade deadline but this is not a tanking move. They have a better TE on the roster in Dallas Goedert who has had to split snaps with Ertz because it took them this long to finally trade him. It's long overdue that Goedert finally gets to be the primary guy at TE and get the targets of a top TE to see what he can do with those while in the last year of his contract and going to command a big deal after the season.

The first 6 games outside of the opener against the Falcons has been a brutal schedule for the Eagles. Played both teams that played in the most recent schedule. Played the Cowboys who are a top 6 team in the league as well. Panthers aren't as good as advertised but they are still a team with a winning record. The rest of the schedule the Eagles only play two good teams (Chargers & Cowboys but Cowboys are week 18 and will likely be resting starters). The rest of are just bad teams (Giants twice, Redskins twice, Lions & Jets) and then a couple teams that started out good but are in full on decline (Raiders who they play next when that team is in full on controversy spiral and the Broncos).

In this era of 7 teams making the playoffs they will be in play for that final wild card spot. Not saying they will get it but as they enter that final stretch of @Giants, @ Jets, Redskins, Giants, @Redskins to close out the season they will have a chance to move into position for it. They aren't a good team that is clear but what we have seen is that they are capable of beating the other bad and mediocre teams in this league.


If you are disputing that Goedert is better than Ertz at this point than you just haven't watched enough Eagles over the past two season.

The ertz/goeddart part is detachable. Ertz still has value and we will see that in Arizona. Goeddart has points he looks very good like ertz was when he was younger but he seems to forgotten about in the offense/never really took over the #1 role from ertz.
