They didn't really. But its time to move on. They did the best with the cards they had to play over the years, it just never worked out.

This.

It is really hard to build a contender in a small market.

And as good as Dame is, he isn’t a LeBron level star who can carry a team on his back through the playoffs.

Portland didn’t let Dame down, they just aren’t good enough to win a title.

Time to move on and give Dame a chance somewhere else.

I think the assumption is that the Warriors make a trade at some point.

And if they land another star and stay relatively healthy, they should surpass everyone besides LA.

Yeah of course a trade changes a lot but right now i have to go with my opinion based on current rosters

Yeah it would be hard to know your team passed on both the Goat and KD.

Cant really hold MJ against them. They needed a big and they already had Clyde Drexler. Hakeem also went ahead of MJ in that draft. The difference was that Hakeem stayed healthy and Bowie didn't.

No but they're better than you think they are because Vegas said so.
do you just not understand how Vegas works when they set these odds? It's not what they think will happen, it is what they think fans/gamblers think will happen.

The other difference was that Hakeem was a top 10 all time NBA player and Bowie....was not

But that reflects the "wisdom of crowds". I'm pretty confident in my prediction, and would be less so if my prediction contradicted Vegas.

For example, they have the Nets as big favorites. That is partly because of what you say, they are guessing the gamblers will be on the Nets. But that also reflects the fact that the Nets are truly the favorites, wouldn't you say?

Of course.....but GS being as high as they are could be because of the nonsharks who may not even know KD is gone and Klay had a couple major injuries.

Futures bets are the biggest winners for the bookies. The odds on every single team are calculated heavily in their favor. I will admit I’ve bet a few, even won one on the Ravens when they won the super bowl, but they are basically just for fun.

We don't know what he would have become because he didn't stay healthy long enough. Given what was thought of him at the time, he was drafted appropriately.

There can't be enough money wagered by people that stupid to really move the number.

Yep. But still, since all the odds favor the book, the relative differences between teams do still reflect those teams' relative strengths.

Sure.

Current rosters I agree the Warriors are maybe on a tier below.

Even then, I don’t believe Phoenix is better than Denver or Utah. They were just able to advance further last year.
