I also don't disagree that Ayton is a better choice but you have the small issue that his team is still playing

I highly doubt if they make the finals he's trying to go from that to playing in the Olympics

Every other player on this roster had a damn good season so yeah idk why Love is on the team
Size would be my guess looking at the roster. Bam is basically the only other "big" that they have. Now why you'd pick Love, I don't know. Seems like there should still be some PFs/Cs out there before you get down the list to Love. Like if he were fully healthy, I could reasonably understand. But the dude hasn't been healthy in about 3 years.

I think Ayton is from the Bahamas. I'm not sure he qualifies. I think it depends on if he has citizenship or not, whether he's played for other national teams, etc

And discussing his inclusion on merits would be a worthy conversation to have. Bringing up his race and injecting a dialogue that is not only false but unnecessary and inflammatory was way out of line. Rose is still a representative of his sport and this was not a good look.

I mean...white tokenenism? Really man?

Not sure on Ayton. Unlike Jalen I don't have to worry about being accurate in my discussion on the Olympic team. Maybe he isn't even a qualified candidate. Just add one more thing Jalen was wrong about.

like I have said----- Love has a unique skill set. Being able to shoot, rebound and pass as a PF is rare.

I would love for people to name me some power forwards in the league that can combine the skill set of Love that he has for shooting and rebounding and not being a ball stopper.

Love has sucked because he has been hurt- not because hes not talented.

if its going off of rewarding guys for the season they had- then Love isnt top 200 on the list.

But Love was finally healthy down the stretch and (now luckily since it caused the Cavs to jump from 3rd to 5th) the Cavs won the last game of the season because he dominated and showed he finally had his legs under him.

People can criticize Love for being hurt- and he kept getting hurt- and in the last 2 years hasn't been able to ever get his wind or get in a rhythm in the few games he has played since he keeps getting hurt.

but if hes healthy and can get into game shape- the guy can still play basketball at a very high level.

Kevin Love doesn’t deserve to be on this team the way players have always been chosen.

But the truth is that every team needs role players who can accept specific jobs and limited minutes/DNPs.

USA basketball would be well served to stop treating team USA like an NBA all star team. They should have a couple shooting specialists and defensive stoppers. They should have a glue guy or 2 like a PJ Tucker or Jae Crowder.

I think more intelligent roster construction would help the group gel quicker.

I have Curry the greatest shooter ever.
Sure, I agree, Curry IS the greatest shooter ever, but in Bird you're getting someone who is a pretty damn good shooter himself, as well as someone who can play some damn good defense, a bigger presence on the floor. I think Bird offers more versatility, while being "almost" as good a shooter as Curry

What team could challenge the team I mentioned? All Curry has to do is shoot the three that is why he is there.

size and shooting.

euro basketball plays bigger than the modern NBA so having his size will certainly help. Love can match up with some of the bigger euro teams.

but yeah, it’s still a weird choice

Irrelevant. You could say the same thing with Bird in his place

Why is it so important that Bird be involved?
Better defense while not sacrificing all that much in the shooting dept.

You do know Curry plays against far better athletes today than what Bird faced back in the day, right?

This tired old argument? Ok. So in our hypothetical, we time-machine a young bird to the present day and let him have the same training and development and offenses as what curry is exposed to nowadays, easy peezy. If you dont think bird would thrive in the present day, you smoke too much dope

That pube stach would not survive in today’s game.
