That's obviously in play for the right deal, he's a chip for sure. But they might have enough with a starting 5 of Curry, Klay, Wiggins, Dray, and Wiseman, with Poole and others off the bench. They can trade their firsts for bench depth.
They should, GS is in win now mode......or the next 2-3 seasons.

That would be an atrocious trade for the Sixers. Talk about letting emotions control you.
I’m not averse to trading Simmons but it makes no sense to trade him for a guy who does the same things and has the same holes in his game. If the Sixers value Draymond Green why not just keep the guy who is a younger version of Draymond Green.

Exactly.

I'm fine with trading Simmons provided we actually improve the team with the trade.

Draymond Green replacing Ben Simmons does not improve the team. He is an even weaker offensive player who would fit horribly with Embiid. He somehow would have less gravity than Simmons. And he's nearly 10 years older than Simmons.

The Sixers are clearly the more talented team. But they clearly have their own demons to overcome.
In our Simmons lament, something big hasn’t received much mention. As much as he is an offensive liability in the playoffs with the focus on half court offense, Simmons actually has a great matchup in this series. The Hawks clearly hide Trae Young on defense because he’s a subpar defender. That means that he’s drawing Ben. He should be used to screen and get top personnel on Young where he can be exploited. Or you can post Ben on Rat Boy and he has no chance. Or Ben lags the offense coming down the floor and turns on the jets and goes by him. This is a team that Ben should be able to drive on at will. Hopefully it clicks for him tonight in Game 7 but it’s fucking embarrassing that outside of the 3rd quarter of Game 3 that we haven’t seen this much at all.

The most recent object of my desire is Ingram in New Orleans. I think the Pels would value a defensive player and a guy who can press pace and get out in transition. I think his game fits with Zion’s as well. Meanwhile, Sixers get a 2nd option scoring wise. Ingram isn’t a great defender but he has improved and has length. Toby becomes the 3rd option on offense which would make him arguably the best 3rd option in the league (that doesn’t play for a healthy Nets squad) and you hand the keys to Maxey who may become a really good pick and roll pairing with Embiid. Hope Morey can make it happen.

If I'm the Sixers, I'm also taking into consideration that I have a new coach in his 1st year with the team. I'm not really a Doc Rivers fan, but he's better than what you had.

I'd give him a full off-season and full training camp to see if he can do something with Simmons before I moved him.

That's my feeling too but that's why these guys make the big bucks, to figure it out.

I’m torn on this one. His value can be repaired and you can maybe get more for him next off season. At the same time, I feel like every season with Joel Embiid could be his last. History is not kind to big men who get injuries. You really don’t have the luxury of potentially wasting another season. I think they should shop Ben this summer and explore what’s out there. If there is a better fit, it’s time to jump on it. That may be best for Simmons as well. Some guys need a change of scenery to go to that next level.

Yeah, sticking with Brown as long as the Sixers did does make it a little tougher.

I think the biggest issue with Embiid and Simmons is that, lacking a shot beyond about 5 feet means that Simmons is most effective driving to the hoop and either finishing or dishing. For that to be effective, Embiid has to spend more time on the perimeter. He can shoot from there, but it's not the most effective use of his talents.

If Doc can coax at least a serviceable mid-range shot out of Simmons, it would help immensely.

Unfortunately, if Doc can't, then you have another year of the same thing and as you point out, wasted another year of Embiid.

Here are the officials for tonight’s game:
Crew Chief - James Capers (Sixers 2-2 with him)
Referee - Kane Fitzgerald (Sixers 3-0 with him)
Umpire - Sean Wright (Sixers 1-0 with him)

I don’t know much about these guys so I’m looking for feedback on what people know about him. Sixers will have a hard time if they let Capela mug Embiid again like he did in Game 1. Embiid didn’t get to the line until their was 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter last game. That can’t happen again. I’m glad Embiid, Doc and Curry planted seeds and may have accepted fines after that Scott Foster led shit show of an officiated game on Friday night.

I think there is a strong chance this is what happens, in part because they would also be trading when his value is extremely low at this point. But I think sometimes you can't view trades as just getting something in return of equal value.

The Sixers need to clear Simmons' cap space. He is paid like a star and plays like a scrub when it matters. They need to move his cap figure, like they did so successfully with Horford, and then use that cap room to add better role players around Embiid.

They are fortunate to have some good young players on rookie deals including Tyrese Maxey, Matisse Thybulle and Paul Reed (a pretty active 4 who hasn't even played much but surely will next year). They need to rid themselves of Simmons (and Tobias Harris IMO) and put that money to better use.

No one is ever going to coax a mid-range jumper out of Ben Simmons. Never going to happen.

Stop the madness. How many years are people going to give this guy to develop a shot? He has shown ZERO improvement since his rookie year in any phase of his offensive game! He doesn't even TRY!

He is, sadly, content to be what he is. The only way he will EVER develop is if he is humbled by a trade and or relegation to the second unit of a team. Only then will he do something, because he clearly has the attitude that he is an all-star and already a great player.
