He and Spo are about the same.

Solidly above average NBA coaches.

Give either a championship roster and they can win. Stevens hasn’t had that ever. But he has done well enough to convince that the Celtics should be contenders when they really aren’t on that level.

I don't think overrated coaches make 6 straight playoff trips. But if the Celtics could get an upgrade at HC I'm all of that. Problem is who's out there that would fit that description?

I just cant see records being similar why curry is and russ isnt...

Curry is only a serious candidate with the oddsmakers and as I believe, @msgkings322 pointed out...that's just a bet for suckers who will bet just on name recognition.

Like I mentioned yesterday Marcus has missed 21 games. Kemba's missed 26 games. And Tatum got the virus. All the blame for this disappointing season shouldn't fall on Stevens.
Not just this season....they have underachieved the last few seasons.

There's a lot more to being an MVP than stats and CP3's stats are in line with his career numbers. If it were about just stats, Westbrook would be considered the favorite.

Westbrook's presence has little effect on winning. CP3, on the other hand, is the most notable difference on the Suns.

To be clear, CP3 isn't winning it, but he deserves to be in the convo...Westbrook, not so much.
People always fall in love with the stats and not the impact the player makes on the team.....SMH.

I don’t think there is an upgrade.

Making the playoffs 6th straight seasons isn’t really that great of an accomplishment.

Over the previous four seasons have the Celtics in any of those years been the favorite to come outta the EC? So 3 ECF trips in 4 years in underachieving? Not sure about that.

I suppose, but theres many others as well. Russ doesnt even have listed odds. I know sportsbooks arent the be all end all.

I'm fine with a guy like CP3 being ahead of him too. CP3 doesn't have the raw statline Russ does, but Russ avg 5 more mpg, and has a much higher usg rate. CP3 has been much more efficient too. And he's on a much better team, mostly because of him.

The goal is to win....how many chances are you going to give him to get over the hump? Especially in the EC where teams are getting better and Brooklyn just went out and got a super team?

He's a good coach but he may have maxed out what he can do there.

Name a coaching upgrade out there for the Celtics. I'm not saying Stevens is some kinda great coach. But to replace him with a better HC the options are very limited.

And it sounds like your placing the majority of the blame on Stevens this season and ignoring that the injury bug got the team. Do you blame Stevens for Kyrie quitting on the team two seasons ago? Two of those three ECF trips the Celtics ran into LeBron & his squad. And he owned the EC before jumping to the WC.

Like I already said in a different comment I'm all for a coaching upgrade. Just not sure who's out there that would be a legit upgrade.

Yeah it is. But there are alot of guys with great stats. Russ plays 36 mpg with a high usg rate. His stats are going to be inflated somewhat because of that. They also play at the highest pace of any team in the league, so that's even more possessions.

I am pleasantly surprised by how Philly is handling the opportunity of being the #1 seed right now. They have won 8 straight and the magic number is 2 more wins, with four games to go. They have the Pacers, Heat and then two games against the Magic to close this out. I think they got this.

Jokic is having a better statistical season on a better team without any games missed.

Open and shut case.

Oh yeah, Jokic is going to win it, and rightfully so. I don't even think Russ would be in my top 10 right now.

But do you honestly think a coaching change gets them over the hump?

Tatum and Brown are both good players. Neither is a superstar. They are both somewhere in the top 20-30 players in the league, but I’m not sure either are top 15.

Kemba is regressing in front of our eyes and they lost Hayward, who, while nothing special with the Cs was another good player.

This is a solid playoff roster that has been stricken with a lot of adversity this season. But even at 100% they don’t have the horses to come out of the East barring a long run of good fortune.

Russ had an impact on the Wizards

He has. There is no doubt they are significantly better than what they would be with Wall.

But there are a lot of guys out there that have made their teams significantly better. Most of them don’t belong in the MVP conversation either.
