If we can get Darnold for a 3rd its a no brainer. Even our 2nd should be considered b/c of his age and potential.
Right now, the Jets can't decide what to do. If they trade Darnold then they have to take a QB with the second pick and pray like an altar boy that he works out. They know that Darnold has all of the tools, it's just that he can't seem to pick the right one at the right time. Their having a problem with the fact that he hasn't had great coaching. Even the Patriots like him and kniow that Josh McDaniel could get him bout as right as possible. naturally, the Jets would never trade him to the Patriots so to get him, there would have to be a little wiggling and shuffling.

A few weeks ago the Jets said that Darnold was their QB in 2021. The problem is letting wilson pass and having him become the next Manning or Brees and be haunted by it for the next fifteen years. The smart thing to do is draft Wilson and let him compete with Darnold. If they both work out, then a trade might be in order for a real haul at the trade deadline in October.

I think there will be a trade market for Darnold A 2nd is not that much considering. If i was the Jets I would keep him and draft the OT at #2.

Disagree.

Who is better on our roster? Forget the draft . The top 5 most likely will be gone. Sure TM looks promising and im glad we got him but why isnt Darnold not being considered? He can be a franchise QB. whats wrong with Darnold Tm, and Allen as our QB's? I think a 2nd or 3rd round pick is worth the risk to take on Darnold if we hit we have a franchise QB. IF we miss we still have TM and Allen to fall back on and only game up a 2nd or third round pick. No brainer. Its worth the risk

Do nothing until the jets blink, probably after the draft.

No reason to part with a draft pick now for a qb who might just as easily be released if the Jets draft Lance.

As time marches on, the amount of teams willing to shell out draft picks for qbs dwindles. After the draft they’ll be next to zero teams willi to trade draft picks for qbs.

There are too many options for the WFT to chase and gut their team for, and the few real, absolute upgrades arent worth the price.

Winston, Jimmy G, Darnold, Fitzmagic, are all interchangeably a slight upgrade over what we currently have, if only because they are healthy enough to throw deep consistently off of two healthy legs.

Patience is a virtue.
I agree, the media and fans throw gas on the fire when it comes to these type of rumors. Remember when it was going to be two 1's for Wentz. IF most of these guys move it will be for a lot less. No sense in giving up way too much for a slight up grade.

Who is TM?

Is that supposed to be Taylor Heineke? What’s the M for?

The reason you dont spend a 3rd or a 2nd for Darnold is because wentz - who was on track to win the NFL MVP before he got injured - has shown a significant amount of more talent than Darnold has, and he went for a 3rd and 2nd.

A second for Darnold is a gross overpayment, and a 3rd for him is just an overpay. What has Darnold shown that makes him worth a third?

Sorry TH. If Wentz plays that 2nd next year could be a first. So a 1 and 3 for a franchise QB seems about right. He is on a bad team. You watch the trade interest that he is going to get.

No. Wentz could suck, still play 70% of the snaps, and the eagles could get a first for him.

Right so how isn't Darold not worth a 2nd or 3rd?

what in the hell did he do to deserve that?

tenn couldn’t give him away.

Heinecke or Allen could be better. Who knows? Why does it matter? You don’t make trades out of desperation.

We should consider Darnold. A second is far too much. A team already wasted a first on him. He proved unable to win. A third, sure. A fourth yep.

Teams are desperate for a QB. He played well vs Miami.....other than the Int.

Darnold hasn't done jack shit i wouldn't give up more then a 6th or 7th rounder for him
And you're not a GM. Darnold"s OL WASNT good.....he didn't have a #1 WR and Gase is a moron as a HC. Not to mention their D WAS AWFUL.

Some team will offer a 3rd and maybe even a mid 2nd rounder. No way he commands a 1st.

NY Jets prior to Darnold

5-11 in 2016
5-11 in 2017

Darnold arrives

4-12 in 2018
7-9 in 2019...huge improvement
2-14 in 2020...so why were they so bad?

Darnold in year 3 after a much improved year 2. Were they well coached in 2019? Did they have a better WRs and a better OL?

Jamison Crowder led them in receiving in 2019 and 2020.

Jet QBs were sacked 42 times in 2020, but were sacked 52 times in 2019.

Darnold had an 84 rating in 2019 but regressed to 72 in 2020.

So the excuses have been he has no number one WR...same receivers but he got worse.

His OL was bad...QBs sacked far fewer times this past season but they got worse. Hell they spent a first round pick on a LT and he was the second ranked rookie behind the guy blocking for Brady. Jets ran for 1693 (4.1) yards in 2020 but only 1257 (3.3ypc) in 2019.

His coach was bad...same coach in 2019 but they got worse.

Maybe some of you should start looking at the QB as the reason HE sucked.

Wentz has done far more in the NFL, and he has a much higher ceiling. Darnold has been bad and admitted to seeing ghosts. He is a little bitch.

Wentz has a higher ceiling b/c he is going to a good team with all the pieces in place. There is a high ceiling for Darnold b/c of his age and ability.

How is giving up a 2nd or 3rd a desperation trade when its for a possible franchise QB? This is not the Rg3 trade here cmon now. Did you really expect him to win with the Jets? So you are willing to give up a 3rd but if we have to outbid another team with a 2nd you squash the deal? lol. I think its a necessary risk to trade a 2nd or 3rd for him. You don't know how TH will turn out and I think we will miss on the top 5 Qb's in the draft. Plus you have Allen coming back and we dont know if he is the franchise QB.

Reports have shown that we are interested. Im sure other teams are too.
