Shaq wouldn't be as impactful? Come on dude lmao.

Yeah. Definitely would not.

Game has changed. Defensive rule changes make it easier to defend the post AND he would be relentlessly attacked in pick and roll.

Pretty easy to see why.

He wouldn't. But how impactful he was wouldn't change as much as some others seem to think, imo.

It would effect him most on the offensive side of the ball, largely because I don't think he'd ever be able to shoot well enough from the perimeter.

His defense would be effected, but not so much by the pick and roll as having to try to defend out to the 3 point line. For most of his career, Shaq's issues with defending the pick and roll were because he was lazy and hated doing it. But he was able to do it when he had to.

But regardless of how quick and athletic he was for his size, he would still struggle getting from the paint to the 3 point line and back because of his size.

Someone else pointed this out, but he surely would have stayed in better shape and not gained all that extra weight if he was playing today.

You got a guy like Shaq on offense you aren’t automatically forced to play today’s game all the time. He would be even more dominant on the offensive end because of all the pussies in the league now.

No, he wouldn’t.

Because you can throw different defensive looks like zones. It is easier to double the post also.

Double it, triple it, yeah it would hurt him a little but Shaq was a freak of nature and would not be stopped.

How did his teams ever lose a game or playoff series in his prime?

Didn’t say he would be stopped. No truly great player is ever completely stopped.

What I said was that he would be less impactful. You said the opposite.

Reminds me of when Wilt said he would average even more points a game if he played in the 2000s. And Russell agreed. Very silly opinion.

Besides Bill Russell, the other absurdly athletic big man is, of course, Wilt. I wonder if this picture was doctored? Supposedly, Wilt had a higher vertical than Michael Jordan.

Wilt was a 3x NCCA high jump champ at Kansas. Doubt that pic's doctored.

Y'all are nuts lol. Nuts. How many rebounds a game does Andre Drummond get lol. I'm not talking about fat Shaq at the end of his career. Prime Shaq would win title after title in todays game

I wasn't talking about fat Shaq either. He would not be as effective in today's game. He would still be a monster. But he's not going to develop a 3 and he's too big to get from the paint to the 3 point line and back consistently. That would limit his effectiveness.

Defensively, a big like AD would give him fits. Obviously, AD isn't stopping Shaq by himself defensively. But as @tlance pointed out, they could zone him and drop someone into his lap for a double team...essentially denying him the ball or forcing him to pass.

To be fair, there are certain centers that he'd likely destroy...like Joker, Nurk or Marc Gasol who depend a lot on angles and just don't have the athleticism to deal with him. But even they would still be able to score from the perimeter and get assists.

No. It is you that is wrong.

Nobody is saying he wouldn’t still be a star. But he wouldn’t be the best player in the league either.

It doesn’t matter how many HOFers the Dream Team has. There’s only 1 ball to score with and 1 basket to score on. The 15-16 GSW also led the NBA in 2P%.
Spoken like a true idiot who has never played a game in his life.

Andre Drummond just got traded for 2 bums and a 2nd round pick. Now the Cavs are actively shopping him too.

He puts up stats, but nobody actually seems to want him on their team.
