You gotta make him the starter at the beginning of the year, keep him as the starter the entire season or seasons and just roll like that. Dealing with any and all issues as they arise. In other words do what Buffalo did with and for Josh Allen. Get him a QB Whisperer (the Bills hired Jordan Palmer for that gig) the whole bit.

Put Haskins in the position to where its an either or situation. Either the Skins come up big with Haskins at the helm. Or they crash n burn with Haskins at the helm. Either way though, its you at the helm, Dwayne.

that is why i balked at the qb change in the first place . a raw guy like him needs snaps . the classroom is ok but he needs to practice and get the reps and see it

look at the INT he through when he could have simply ran for the 1st down . he threw the stupid pick but later on in the game in similar situations he ran it
DHC learns by doing . now in an evaluation year you have to live with it .

2nd half DHC is a viable NFL qb . first half DHC is jamarcus russell

i think DHC is done as a viable starting qb here in DC . they wont wait for him and are buying into superbowl windows and such

what we do in the offseason will shed lite onto the situation

so if we start CDC then he had better be 100% ready because bringing DHC off the bench will end up in disaster because DHC isnt good at that either

The only thing that I can figure is that something happened in the locker room or on field with Haskins that RR had to act. And unlike regimes in the past where stories leaked regularly, RR runs a much tighter ship. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. He clearly still hasn't bought in that Haskins is the answer. I'm wondering if he even still considers him part of the question.

But I agree, play DH next week. Take it week by week. Its not like AS is lighting it up. He has played marginally better, at best. He is not the future by any means. DH could possibly be. What a great opportunity to see DH play during a playoff run. Not only a great evaluation opportunity, but a great learning experience. Any other course of action is short sided, IMO.

I think DH's initial benching was necessary. The young man needed some humbling and from what we were first hearing out of his camp after the benching. Compared to what we are hearing and seeing now. I think the benching has accomplished what it was intended to accomplish. It's gonna be interesting to see what happens far as this week with who will be starting against Carolina. I've been going back n forth on who it should be. Today I'm leaning towards DH. Tomorrow who knows. But if as you say, DH learned and corrected some things from the 1st half to the 2nd half of yesterday's game. Then I'd like it to him starting this week.

Getting to the playoffs this year for me is a distant second to getting and establishing a year in, year out legit starting QB. We know that guy isn't Alex and I don't think its Kyle either. So may as well get on about the business of seeing if its DH. Plus it will be helpful to see how DH plays n responds in the 1st half of a game immediately following this Seattle game. Getting the Skins off to a good start in the first half w/o making any silly or unnecessary mistakes would be a great thing from DH this week......or any WFT QB really, but DH especially.

I think one thing to wonder and this has affected the team most of they year is what changes from the first half to the second half. Turner (or whoever) made changes Sunday. At the same time Seattle played more zone and wasn't as aggressive. I don't think this is just DH, it seems like a team wide thing.

DHC isn’t RR ‘s guy and I don’t see that changing .
He showed no faith in him by benching him and you don’t do that with a franchise guy

he can be a good qb but the team / fan base isn’t inclined to give him time . So time move on

No question,, the 1st half issues are not the QB's alone. Hell, their not even the players issue alone. The coaches have to bear blame as well. Its like the entire team n coaches are waiting for a signal or sign that its OK to start playing n coaching.

I can simply watch Haskins and know he will never be any good... and i'm no coach. He's hesitant, he has no confidence in his own ability, He shows no leadership skills, He has no determination and he's not accurate with his throws. He's never gonna be a great QB in this league. The only young QB we have had here that has shown any confidence in himself is KC and we pissed all over that situation. When DH is behind center I have no faith he will move the team... I pray the Skins get rid of him somehow... I also kinda get the vibe he's a cancer in the locker room. Id much rather start Allen or Smith over him. If the Skins have to start Haskins next week clinching a playoff spot will have to wait till the following week cuz we aint winning with him.

Was he really a franchise guy? According to who? Those 2 pre-draft write-ups below have some damn good things to say about DH, but I don't read either as saying he's a franchise guy. The 2 teams who took a QB in the 2019 draft a head of the Skins apparently thought better of other QBs, even the Giants who were rumored to be picking Haskins. Jay Gruden didn't want Haskins. The only person/people who saw Haskins as a true franchise player were Snyder and Allen. All it takes is one though.

And did RR bench a franchise guy. Or did he bench a guy who was bragging about his first 300 yard game in the midst of a 3 game losing streak. A guy who the year before wasn't out on the field to finish a game where he should have been. Because he was too busy taking selfies with fans. A guy who wasn't showing up early or staying late and maybe not studying the play book cuz he was too busy with social media and/or building his brand.
I thought deactivating him was more than what was needed, but clearly the benching/deactivation helped Haskins reassess his priorities and get his head on straight. At least from what I see. Now is RR being fair with Haskins? Its hard to say at this point. Maybe its all part Maybe its all part of a tough love process or not. If not Haskins wouldn't be the first to get the short end of the NFL stick. And the entire fan base is isn't against Haskins either.

RR is the only one that matters though and some time between today and before the start of the 2021 season. We all will get a clearer picture one way or the other far as how he feels about Haskins.

Is it all on DH?

Are we playing towards his strengths with dink and dunk shit or should we open up the playbook?

I would say to give him a fair shake, you have to put him into a system he can excel in.

I think you did a lot of research for nothing . If DHC was a franchise qb you wouldn’t bench him . The conclusion is he isn’t a franchise Qb. Not that he was in the 1st place .No drafted or otherwise aquired qb can be a franchise qb until he actually does it on the field .DHC has never showed that on the field .

DHC shouldn’t have been drafted by us or anyone if you weren’t going to properly
Develop him

and because of that he was way over drafted . You expect a 1st round (15y overall) guy to come in and start by the end of year one minimum . If you think it will take 3 yrs to school him up then he is a day 2 or 3 pick ,

now a top ten pick has to be a day one starter

right now this team has a QB issue .CDC statistically is the very same as DHC ,. People point to a 667 win % but against whom ? Other then the Steelers what winning team has he beat here in DC?

the truth is DHC and CDC are giving us the same production . Every CDC int this year was a stupid choice . No different the DHC. His were stupid as well. DHC however has faced 4 playoff caliber teams , cards , browns , ravens and hawks while CDC has faced the Steelers yet CDC is the guy to trust while he is nothing more then a bus driver

bottom line ,RR doesn’t trust DHC

Yes, it is all on DH. This goes with the territory of being a QB in the NFL. We need to stop making excuses for our poor QB play, no matter who it is. Haskins may have been handled wrong, he may not have been. But he has not shown any appreciable progress since he has been here. He was a bad pick In that he was no where near NFL caliber after one season in college. He should be showing improvement at this point. He just isn’t.

this doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be playing. Alex isn’t much better. We need to definitively know by this off-season if DH has any potential in the near term. If he doesn’t, jettison him.

of course, Ron may already know this, which is why he ain’t playing him unless he has to.

That seems to be the problem. They can’t open up the playbook with him.

I don't see a downside to playing DH.

I understand the playoffs are appealing but it's not like Smith is any better.

Worst case scenario is you miss playoffs and you know you need a qb but you have a top 10 defense to build from

When he threw the ball downfield he threw two picks.
