Got Me Thinking About Michigan...

Heard some things on a podcast the other day about Michigan. Started thinking on this. Think back to 2007. The loss to Appalachian State. Does this have anything remotely to do with past seasons and current? They have been through Rodriguez, Hoke, and with Harbaugh now. Three coaches in 12 years. Missed bowl games for the first time in forever in 2008 and 2009. They are 2-7 in bowl games. We know the records against Ohio State and Michigan State. The fact that Michigan State has more CFP appearances than Michigan. The Wolverines have 4 double digit win seasons since 2007. So, what’s the deal?

Choosing the wrong coaches set you back. As a Texas fan, I understand how it goes. Plus I know everyone says that all schools are dirty when it comes to recruiting but Michigan is one of the very few that is on the up and up. Harbaugh is too stubborn to ever take that next step. Gotta up the ante with the next coach.. I think Campbell would be a good candidate but I'm weary of his recruiting chops.

I feel like these days you need to just recruit and have a good scheme with good culture in order to win. Michigan has the resources to recruit at a MUCH better clip then they have been and Harbaugh's antics don't seem to be resonating with these kids after awhile. Certain coaches just have shorter lifespans than other and JH has warn out his welcome. The next guy needs to either be an elite recruiter, or be a guy that has a modern culture and surround him with recruits. Say if they get Greg Roman and surround him with recruiters, then it could work.

John Cooper was fired (too late, imho) for going 2-10-1 against Michigan while at Ohio State.

That's still more wins than the last 3 coaches (Hoke, Rodriguez, Harbaugh) have over Ohio State in the past 13 seasons.

That may not really relate to the topic, but it felt really good typing it.

John Cooper was fired (too late, imho) for going 2-10-1 against Michigan while at Ohio State.

Pretty sure he had a better overall record too and actually won some conference championships
