I think I heard some stat that our defense is historically bad during the broadcast yesterday.

I love the idea of bringing in Quinn to help out but worried about there being too many cooks in the kitchen at that point.

Unfortunately there's currently a grease fire in the kitchen. Russ is still cooking but eventually he's gonna get burned.

A sous chef would be welcome to spice up the defensive playcalling, and with a slightly better D, we would be able to feed Carson more.

I think the issue is more talent than defensive play calls.

Our defensive line is very, very, bad. There's no way to get around that fact. You can see it in their inability to generate pressure and the fact that opposing offensive lines have blasted them off the line of scrimmage on run plays.

It appears in the offseason that the Seahawks believed improving the secondary would compensate for a lack of a pass rush, but that hasn't been the case. You give any NFL QB all day to throw and they're going to put up big numbers.

Norton has been forced to call up more blitz plays because the front 4 is incapable of generating pressure which exposes the secondary more. Norton has two options: Either dial up blitzes and not have as many guys in coverage, or attempt to rely on our front 4 generating pressure which has just allowed the QB to sit back in the pocket all day.

IMO the defensive struggles are a direct result of the Seahawks FO thinking that they can neglect the defensive line and compensate through improving the secondary.

I think if you look at team stats, every team's defense is suffering somewhat. No preseason, the good QB's held unofficial workouts with their receivers, fuck it, 2020 just plain sucks. Anyhow, I see little value gained by firing your DC when your team is undefeated. Then again, this is the same forum that had people call for Bevel's head after we lost the SB. Now, if Norton gets canned in the off season, I could care less. Football is a cold business.

I would be 100 percent for brining Bevell in even if they don’t fire Norton, have him help out in some way... He knows our system well...

Even though we were an inch away from losing that game had the defense not made the clutch stop I think it could be possible that hawks management knew that Quinn was more than likely going to be fired and would be a candidate in the offseason to bring back and possibly have Norton be the linebackers coach.

It’s crazy, the defense as horrible as they’ve been seem to make stops when it counts the most ... BUT that’s not gonna continue, we can’t rely on that, it’s gonna blow up eventually... This an historically bad defend right now, and it’s unacceptable...

either that or it goes the other way, you are looking at it like there is only one outcome that could happen. Either they get better or they get worse, there are signs they will improve and there are signs they won't. It's up to the players and coaches, lets see how it turns out, But i wont say that it's all going to blow up. If i knew that i would buy some lotto tickets.

in my eyes they are at some cross roads and either they go left, right or continue straight.

Defense has been receiving a lot of criticism for a reason... But think about it... We are 5-0 with the worst defense in the league so far along w/ playing our worst game on offense last week... If we improve on defense at all,we are going to be very tough to beat...

I hope they do get better, because this could be a special run if they do ... We’re only going as far as this defense improves, because we can’t rely on the offense all the time ... I’ll give them credit on the turnovers and big stops at key times, but we can’t continue getting gashed like we are... The bye came at a good time for us...

Yep. A lot of guys coming back from injury so hopefully this D can turn the corner

This defense is one of the worst Seattle defenses we've seen... Offense can't keep covering up for this horrid defense... It will eventually catch up to us - like it did tonight... Huge loss for the Hawks in our division...
