I still say he signs for less than Wilson, same as I always said. If he signs for 5 years he'll get the 35 Dallas has on the table, if he signs for 4 years he'll get more than Wentz got.

I have been reading that the sticking point for Dak was he wants 4 years and not 5. The Mahomes deal takes away all his leverage on that front? I mean seriously a 10 year contract with a no trade clause. I knew Mahomes was going to get big money and he was definitely going to be the highest paid player in NFL history. I never say this coming.

That's one hell of a contract but a good contract. First 5 yrs avg 40mil so pretty much what most were predicting.

Not anymore. Cowboys waited too long. He's getting more than Wilson.

Yikes.

Seems like forever.

But let me recall how quickly the last 10 passed.

Hmmm. Lots can happen.

Depending on the details 10 years could be bad for both player and team or good for both. In all honesty I'm looking forward to see how many years Mahomes is really tied to the Chiefs or if they can cut bait free and clear long before he sees year 100.

Paying him that much money is gonna make another Super Bowl VERY difficult, Chiefs are gonna be making some cuts ....

Looking at Over The Top, his contract isnt abnormally crazy early. If the cap continues to rise as it has he too will be underpaid in about 5 maybe 6 years.

We'll see. I don't think he will unless Dallas just throws him a bone with a few none important dollars so Dak can say he got more. I like Dak, but I'm more than fine cutting bait if he wants anything over 35M. Let him play on the tag, get a good look at Dalton and if you like what you see hand the team over to Dalton and Draft his replacement.
As for the waiting too long, I'll agree, as I was saying all along last offseason to give Dak the 27M he was asking for.

Fist 5 or 6yrs seems like he's avg 40mil. Seems like what everyone was pegging him at.

I just counted it on Sportac the first 5 years gives him 180M = 36M per.
I think you are counting the rookie portion as well.
the 10 year extension starting on 2022, it is 197 & change. 39.55 avg. 1st 5 years.
posted it for you earlier for your battle with RTK LOL

I like this contract.
Starts off like 1st round rookies (only a lot more money)
they have to guarantee him 2 years before the year that is getting guaranteed.
Eventually going to one year back & final same year as the contract goes along.
So there is no sudden parting of the ways between the two. At least not till the 2nd half the contract.
Both will know whats up in advance. Have to say a smart contract. :thumb:

I counted years 2021, 22, 23, 24, and 25. Oops, now I see it. 21 is his automatic 5th year.
