Taking the money out of it, the only player on that list the Cowboys, and I think most NFL teams would trade Dak straight up for is Russell Wilson. Would I trade Dak straight up for Cousins? Hell no. For Brady? Brady is nearly my age lol. Same with Brees. Rodgers is old and broke. Ryan is headed downhill. Wentz is more talented but can't keep his soft as Charmin ass on the field.
I wouldn't pay Dak $40 million, but then I wouldn't pay any QB except maybe Mahomes $40 million because you could simply draft a QB and surround him with $40 million more per year in extra talent and win just as many games. But Dak is a Heck of a player
Dak still needs to get his team to the playoffs.

I'm sure Lamar Jackson is talking with his agent.

The bonus is extremely low. 62 guaranteed at signing. Looks like 12.5M + seasons 2021and 2022 guaranteed. Daks guarantee was already higher.
The post on the prior page shows 23 M for 2021, and 27M for 2022.

Not moving anything. Just Stating facts.

We did have the better defense by a bit. Who has the better weapons around him? IMO Dallas by leaps and bounds.
Yeah, just a bit...

It's funny that when you talk all time great defenses the Seahawks fans are bringing up the LOB (and perhaps rightly so), but when you talk QBs, they were just "a bit" better than a Dallas defense that couldn't stop any good offenses when they needed too.

I guess that is internet cheerleader chat 101...

Paying him that much money is gonna make another Super Bowl VERY difficult, Chiefs are gonna be making some cuts ....
By and in large, a few FA's 40M can get doesn't move the needle that much. QB's do. Folks are quick to pooh pooh FA splashes on here for good reason. The Chiefs draft well and they'll be just fine if Mahomes sustains top 3 to MVP level production when on the field. Margin for error is smaller than the canyon sized margin it was earlier when they can top the NFL in DVOA with one of the worst defenses in the league ala 2018.

Lot of teams would love to have the 26 and under players the Chiefs have not named Mahomes.

Interesting, I've often wondered if a contract like this would work, and why no team has tried it.
 I need to look at this again. I thought a lot of contracts already had similar language where you need to guarantee the next years contract on the 3rd day of the current year. A lot more have it of course for the same year, but I'm pretty sure I've seen it this as well. I certainly could be wrong

I'm not sure how closely you follow the Cowboys, but he has...twice...and was one game away the other two of his four years. I'm not trying to portray that as fantastic or anything, just surprised a "Cowboy fan" wouldn't know that...

How long will it be before he decides he needs them to renegotiate and give him more money?

10 years is a stupid long time for him to watch the cap go up and lesser quarterbacks get paid more than him.

THAT

Or what happens if Mahomes gets broken and they would have wanted to move on.

From what I've read...his contract is tied to a % of the cap so it should continue to escalate with the cap.

Mahomes would have to do something pretty outlandish for KC to want to move on, and my guess it probably spells out what those things are.

I know that but he has more to prove with a bigger contract. He needs to get this team into the SB.

Oh wow it's real.

Told the Cowboy fans here that Mahomes was going to likely sign a new deal before the season and I was told no that's not going to happen. Well it happened.

Can't wait to see the numbers because it no doubt is going to drive up Dak's asking price.

Nah...this is a unique contract...I'm sure Dak's people are anxious to see it, but I don't expect to see his numbers in this range.

Dak's asking price without a doubt goes up. He isn't close to the player that Mahomes is so he won't get his money but he is going to get more than Wilson now.

My thought was you play 2020 and 2021 is guaranteed.
