Ok, now I gotcha. lol

How would these pods be decided and how large or "mini" are we talking?
Like I said, that is a math problem, and I have been on Vacation today and had a few vodka sodas! Depends if you want to expand to add the top G5s or not? I am okay with adding BYU, Boise State, Houston, UCF, etc. without diluting the product, so we can have 17 pods of 5 teams (4 current P5 + 1 G5), so a team would play their 4 pod teams + 8 of the other 16 pod teams rotating annually or every two years (if you want home and home). Not figuring all out myself unless I get paid for it! lol. Let's just say, that the key is that Football is removed from the Conference process but everything else remains the same for Basketball and other Olympic Sport.

Take the 64 power 5 and add 16 of the best G5

make four super conferences split into 2 ten team divisions each. One OOC and two cross division games and a conf champ game. The winners of the conf champ games get home field for first round of playoffs the losers play road games against a non conf opponent.

Reduce the amount of players allowed to travel for road games and make the divisions geographically sensible.

Probably eliminate the ACC and have them absorbed into the BIG and SEC mostly

try and make conferences mixing in both P5 and G5 evenly and competitively? its not easy.
It's not easy because no one would do it. There is no way the "haves" are going to just give money they have worked hard to generated to the "have nots." I don't want to play any more pussy programs than I already have to. The opposite is happening in college football. The really good teams are scheduling each other, not scheduling more pussy teams.

No one cares about the G5 outside the G5. They better figure out how they are going to succeed in the future, because the P5 is going to move on once the NLI hits.

whats the matter? scared?
This doesn't really warrant a response, but obviously not. I want to play a real schedule, not where 70% of the teams blow.

70%??? He has UGA with Florida, Florida St. Miami, GT, and 2 of the better G5 teams this past decade. Id hardly say 70%

That is already happening in the P5s isn't it? The only reason Northwestern and Illinois receive as much as they do is because the networks are willing to pay a larger hunk if Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, etc are in the package. Remove those three, and the amount the networks would be willing to pay would drop like a rock.

I recall Chris Del Conte (prior to going to Texas) saying the only reason TCU was able to do what they have is because the networks are willing to pay the conference a lot of money because OU and Texas are in it. Without them the payout wouldn't be very large. While every school gets 10% of Tier 1 and Tier 2, the total is as high as it is because of those two. Same for every conference. Those revenue generators are willing to share with the others in order to have a conference...mainly for the other sports.

so the way i see it Georgia Tech has beat UGA as recently as 2016 and 2014. so Cant really just chalk that up as a win even though more often than not it probably is.

UGA leads the series with Florida by 9 but still not calling it an automatic win.

hard to say on Florida State as there has only been 1 recent meeting
and Miami has no recent meetings
but even with the current state of the three programs its hard to just say those two wont be competitive.

First meeting with UCF was a 1 point win and the next time UCF won by 4.

the rest while likely would be push overs have all hasd moments that cant be over looked.
Georgia southern took 11 win minnesota to the wire
Georgia state beat Tennessee last year.
FAU was has had multiple 11 win seasons over the last couple years
FIU beat Miami last season.
UAB didnt field a team in 16 and won their conference in 18
USF has recent wins against GT, Illinois twice, Texas Tech, Syracuse, South Carolina not to bad for a G5 Program.

Pat Forde is an idiot.

Any poster spending time creating their make believe conferences is wasting their time.

Maybe the COVID is a college football natural disaster that forces remakes of everything, but nothing will begin to happen until January 2022, because the Big Ten contract funs out in 2022-2023. Then the PAC 12 contract runs out in 2023-2024, and the Big 12 runs out in 2024-2025.

i really don't see realignment especially with what is happening now. If the SEC and B16 are looking to add value, not bring it's shares down, there really is only three schools that can do that. ND, OU, and UT. Other than that.. are they going to kick out some of it's deadweight?

It's been said that the B16 really cares about schools being in the AAU when they join the conference..something ou is far far far from. Texas isn't going there without another TX school(s) and they will probably want to bring it's LHN deal with them.

ND does everything it can NOT to join the B16.

For Texas it's better to remain in the Big12 with ou.. if not it's probably the SEC..with LHN.

I was always hoping some type of Pac/Big12 merger would happen but I don't see how they can properly set it up. Pac 12 is solid but doesn't have the fanbases/culture outside 3 schools out there (SC,O,UW). And there is a lot of "deadweight" by population in the Big 12 but schools like okie light and ISU put fans in the seats.. good or bad. Private schools like TCU and Baylor do better than some state schools out West.

So I feel the conference commissioners, school ADs and presidents, will be much more conservative when it comes to realignment talks in a couple of years.

This reminds me of my time as superintendent in a small school district. Most small schools join together to provide special education services in a cooperative manner. We had one school district that was growing and getting close to being large enough to go it alone. In fact, being in the co-op was costing them more. I could see they were getting ready to go it alone and that was going to hit us hard. We needed them, they didn't need us. Myself and two other superintendents motioned for the other schools to collectively pick up the extra expenses in order to entice the larger district to remain in the co-op. We got out voted 4-3. Because some of the smaller ones wouldn't pick up an extra 6-8%, our cost to provide special education services went up 15% per year for the next three years! Penny wise, pound foolish.

Let's face it. Texas Tech, TCU and K-State need OU and Texas to make it. OU and Texas would make it without them. Same can be said for every other P5 conference.
