Also, non-holiday mid-week travel on a weeks' notice is difficult. Also, few people can afford the time or money to actually travel to follow their team.
You have to be pretty well healed to travel to all 4 games. Ain't a lot of folks able to do that.

Ohio State was pretty well represented in Dallas but weather, some having already shelled out for the Rose Bowl and anticipation of another game in Atlanta limited it quite a bit.

Texas and Ohio State are two of the largest fan bases in the world. Those ratings are reflection of the timing of the game and nothing else.

The ratings sucked because of when the games were played. They couldn't play on Saturday because of the NFL. It needs to end sooner.
But the NFL doesn’t seem to have a problem with ratings for regular season games played on Mondays or Thursdays. :noidea:

The NFL is the king.

Why do you think they played the NCAA playoffs on Thursday and Friday instead of going head to head with the NFL on Saturday? I love the Buckeyes but OSU-TX would have been crushed by Ravens/Steelers or Commanders/Lions.

Why is the National Championship game on Monday night instead of Saturday where it would compete with an NLF playoff game? Ravens/Bills would vs OSU-ND would have been worse.

Again, they were still able to draw bigger audiences on weeknight, regular season games than big NCAA programs playing each other in the playoffs.

We’ll see what numbers the Ohio v ND game draws as the national title game has been played on a Monday night many times IIRC. I imagine it will be big, but I thought the other games wouldn’t have lost 10 million viewers year to year.

Did you really expect a weeknight game would have the same eyes as a New Year's Day bowl game?

My only qualms are the television coverage (one network with a strong conference affiliation shouldn't be showing games alone, FOX/CBS/NBC should as well IMO) and the sites. I'd have the second round also played at campuses, and I'd have the championship game at the Rose Bowl. I think 12 is fine and I wouldn't hate 16.

Never said the Regular Season 'champ' is the champ.

Merely said teams need to earn a chance to even be there.

Why does a shit awful team that can't win 60% of their games even deserve a chance?
Because those are the rules and you don't get to change them after seeing how the season plays out?

sounds like you don't want divisions and just go with a set number of teams based on wins? If that's what you want how are you making out a schedule?
