The Man in the White Suit (1951)

This was an interesting and entertaining movie. Alec Guinness plays a scientist who invents a new synthetic fabric material, that is essentially both unbreakable and dirt-resistant. When he tries to sell his invention to garment manufacturers, he discovers the practical issues involved with such a revolutionary idea. The heavy British accents made the dialog difficult to follow at times, but it was pretty easy to figure out the gist of what they were talking about.

Rush

True story about rival formula 1 racers in the 1970s. Directed by Ron Howard.

Pretty good movie. Don’t have to be a formula one fan to enjoy it.

I watched a 4 part series about the unabomber on Netflix. It was pretty good
In his own words?

That was solid. Wish he had a soul, his thoughts, aside from bombing innocent people, have always fascinated me.

Wish he'd do interviews now, or be allowed to, for people to completely understand his Mr. Hyde.

Uncut Gems

one of those movies where you HATE every character and you want everyone to DIAF (and I HATE that saying). Hard to see anything past the fact that everyone just sucks.

6/10

I simply could not watch it after 30 minutes or so.

6/10 is generous.

I had heard good things, so I stuck it out to see what others were loving about it.

I think the acting was decent. KG, in particular was pretty good. Playing yourself, in a not-so-great light, takes balls. You gotta respect him for that. And Sandler, I think, is a very underrated actor (when he wants to be).

I just don’t like movies that have literally no characters who can be rooted for...

Sandler was completely self-destructive and deserved every headache he ever encountered in his life
KG was a self-centered athlete still playing the thug game (though through his delegates more so than with his own hands)
The brother-in-law was an ahead-of-his-skis wannabe mobster.
The main muscle was just a walking temper
The wife was an insufferable nag
The girlfriend was a naggy, loud whore

The Father-in-law was probably the only redeeming character in the entire movie. And you could tell he hated everyone just as much as the viewer.

It was definitely frustrating from that standpoint, other than that I enjoyed it. Kind of a huge point though

In the same boat. I did not care for Uncut Gems. I honestly didn't get the hype. It never stopped, it was go from the time the movie started, but there is genuinely nothing likeable. The characters suck, the story sucks, the only good thing I will say is that the acting wasn't as bad as I was expecting and the ending. I did't expect that ending, which was nice - but at the same time, it sucked lol.

Redboxed Bad Boys for Life and The Gentleman

Bad Boys for Life - by no means a good movie. It has shotty acting, just dumb action scenes that make no sense in my opinion, the editting and pacing is also pretty bad. With that said, it is also pretty much everything you would want out of a Bad Boys 3 lol. I will give it a 4.5/10.

The Gentleman - now this movie was fantastic. The plot was solid albeit it left a fair amount to the imagination, but the story telling was excellent in my opinion. Acting was good. It had a nice balance of comedy and seriousness. But it ultimately left more desired, like I wish I knew more specifics or I had more details than what they gave me. I knew who I was supposed to like and who I was supposed to dislike, but I wanted more reason to like and dislike them. Solid movie. 7.5/10

I'm not a Sandler fan anyway as a rule. I've liked at most 2 of his movies previously.

And I also don't go all cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs over hoops.

There was nothing in it for me. I only watched in the first place because there was nothing else.

I'm going to give The Gentlemen a look.

Guy Ritchie and the cast gets my attention.

I am not a big Sandler fan either. I like Happy Gilmore... and I would need a minute to think of more. But I am able to compartmentalize actors and their movies to find some enjoyment out of it.

Click and 50 First Dates for me. Maybe the one with Don Cheadle as well.
