Passing: 237/340, 69.7 %, 3,851 yds, 32 TD, 8 int

Rushing: 233 att, 1,298 yds, 6.5 yd avg, 20 TD

Total stats AL/OK: 9,477 yds passing, 80 TD; 3,274 yds rushing, 43 TD

He's only 6'1", but I'd throw him in a game any time. What's not to like as a backup for Wentz?

I’ve already seen one headline that says “Carson is put on notice”.

Give me a fucking break. That’s not what this was about at all.

It was very shrewd when you step back and apply some intelligence to it. A later QB can't come in and win for you, look at all the teams that had to throw lowly drafted or undrafted rookies out there last year. Or you end up like the Niners two years ago with two young QBs that will never help you win. We'd be better off with Josh McCown than any of those types.

How many low picks should we blow on Thorsons instead of just putting a more talented QB in the role in the first place?

This stabilizes the QB room here.

4 years of having the very important back up QB spot solidified and people are crying because we didn't draft Quinton Caver or Matt McCoy.

I had to recheck his stats since they looked unbelievable. Big 12 games are competitive. That much running and passing makes me believe the guy is a talented decision maker.

He had the wheel of a powerful Oklahoma offense in a conference not known for playing much defense. He definitely showed a lot of improvement but I still think his passing is not great for the NFL level. He has the arm but his touch and anticipation leave a fair amount to be desired. And like a lot of QBs he is much better scrambling and throwing to his right than to his left.

Here is a good write up on his strengths and weaknesses and why he is likely to need some time to develop before he is an NFL starting caliber QB.

Remember Jon Hand? I think it was Ray Rhodes who went to Virginia to scout a very good player and while there saw jon hand the physical freak DE like too tall jones. We took him 1st round and i dont think he was on anyones radar. Maybe the same kinda happened with Hurts while we scouted CD Lamb? Though not as big a blunder as hand, still a major head scratcher that may have been born from scouting another player on his team.

Ha he was so unremarkable that I assigned him a more famous name lol

Yes Jon Harris was the 2nd worst 1st round pick in Eagles history.

My favorite story on Jon Harris is that when Philly called him to inform him he was their pick, Harris was asleep. He didn't expect anyone to draft him day one.

My second favorite is that when his coach, Al Groh, heard about the pick, he literally started laughing.

The guy is a beast. Now if he can actually play in a system for more than a year and really learn it. Great upside.

He reminds me a lot of Russell Wilson coming out of college ... I think Wilson was an early 3rd rounder with similar speed and running ability.

To add to this, I think Virginia had a number of good prospects at this time including Jamie Sharper, who went on to a good career with the Ravens, and we were the boneheads who took Harris over Al Groh's actual good players which is why he laughed at us. Groh is the father of Mike Groh.

Who was the 1st. If you say Watkins, no, because he was rated as a late 1/early 2nd. He just decided that he really wanted to be a fireman, rather than have the rigors of pro football.

He's not an accurate passer. Wilson was a baseball draftee, and very good player.

Wilson's 4 year Completion percentage 60% 7.9 yards per attempt ... Hurt's 4 year Completion percentage 65% 9.1 yards per attempt.
